It was an easy read, but the lead female character was annoying in her passivity. I wish the friendship with Hana had been more deeply explored. I will prob read the next in the series to see what happens, but if it's also missing the character development I wanted in this one, then that will be it...

I did find the book very good. I like alex but lena drove me crazy. The idea of love being a disease was strange. it mostly worked though I think saying that heartbreak was a disease would have been interesting since most of the symptoms were from things happening because of heartbreak. perfect way to end the book cause I absolutely need to read the next.

So I think someone who hasn't read a lot of YA dystopian would like it, however I have read TOO MUCH of it to really like it?? I read this to get out of a book slump, and about halfway through I stopped and just didn't really wanna finish it because it all felt predictable. I kinda already knew what was gonna happen.. I just finished it because I don't like leaving things unfinished. This reminded me of a lot of different books, mostly the [b:Uglies|24770|Uglies (Uglies, #1)|Scott Westerfeld|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1443904172s/24770.jpg|2895388] series because of the "cure" and the people outside of the fence. And I really liked the Uglies book but I didn't want this book to carry on and on like the Uglies series continued and get kinda muddled up and boring and I feel like it would but I don't know because I haven't read the others,, but I'm not gonna even bother.

It took me a month and a day to finish this book because I simply didn't want it to end. This book is so freaking great and im not going to tell you how it went but I will give you the gist of it. A girl who's in a town that forbids love, falls in love. They try to escape, one is left behind. I cant wait to read the next book!

I wish I could give this 6 stars.

I've been let down by most of the dystopia I've read recently, but this was spectacular. The problem I normally find with dystopia is that there isn't a clear enough reason why society has regressed so far, but in this novel there are excerpts at the beginning of each chapter giving you an insight into approved documents, medical journals, stories, and histories which explain how Love or amor deliria nervosa has been identified as a disease. Obviously there's lots of corrupt governments and misguided people believing lies, etc. and a resistance, but love as a disease is so deliciously delved into by Oliver, that it's impossible to put this book down.

The setting was kind of hilarious for me because I only live a few hours from where this is supposed to take place, but aside from that, I thought that on the whole everything was believable and held up very well. The characters are incredibly detailed and heartbreakingly multifaceted. I've definitely fallen in love with her characters. Lena and Hana are easily the strongest most true to life female friendship that I've seen in a series, and Lena's romantic relationship with Alex manages to avoid nearly all the familiar romance and YA tropes.

Delirium was surprisingly fresh, emotional whirlwind that definitely lives up to and, honestly, deserves more hype. I'll be buying this in hard cover for my collection. Absolutely amazing.

it is super rare that i just stop reading a book but i took my friend's advice of not wasting my time reading a book i didnt like. i just had to stop it. i didnt feel any connection to the protagonist or the world in the book. and like i mentioned before i've read this book before 10-15 years ago when it was called The Giver and 1984.

Maar Lauren Oliver overtuigde me.

I really did love this book. Loved the story line. I gave it 4 stars because it’s written at such a slow pace. I struggled to get halfway through before it sped up. It made me laugh. It made me cry. At one point I was so mad I didn’t want to finish it. I’d recommend it to anyone.
