I reread this book since I haven't since high school, just to see what it was like as an adult. Though I understand the premise of reading it in high school, looking deeply at human nature and the repercussions of it, I think there are probably better books out there to accomplish it.

The character development is slim, the plot is fairly stationary, and the prose is much more wordy than necessary. It actually takes you out of the story, in my opinion.

This wasn’t my favourite book. The idea was great and I liked the type of characters but I didn’t see enough of a connection to all of them. I do actually quite like the ending. Was just something missing though. Apart from the last chapter it’s probably 3 star but it was saved at the end

Gripping story and easy to see why it's a classic. I'm very glad I read Rutger Bregman's "Humankind: A Hopeful History" before I read this one, because it kept my eyes on the fact that this is just fiction, and that 'the real Lord of the Flies' - as Bregman calls it - actually went completely differently.

Not sure why it’s taken me so long to read this book. Honestly wonderful and difficult to read at times. The shift in mood of this book was unlike anything I’ve read. Definitely a book that will stick with me.

I hadn’t read this since high school and honestly, my opinion of it hasn’t changed much since then. Though it is an interesting concept, and the book is easily read, it wasn’t one that truly enthralled me and the ending left something to be desired, in my opinion. Still a decent and quick read

No, this is not a book of “fun and games.” This is some fucked up shit.

This was a well written book overall and had a great underlying message. I honestly wouldn't have read it if it wasn't for my English class. Very glad I did though. Interesting ending though in my opinion.... I didn't really have a favorite character for once. I saw them just as boys trying to survive and didn't really connect spiritually with any of them like I have with characters in other books.... Eh.... Probably wouldn't read it again, but would recommend it to other readers.
