A heartbreakingly beautiful story about love, grief, and human connection.

It follows Adelaide, a twenty-something woman living in London, as she falls in love, falls apart, and slowly puts herself back together.

I definitely wouldnโ€™t call this a romance, but contemporary/literary fiction with heavy mental health themes. It is a roller coaster of real, honest, raw emotions. The writing had a beautiful poetic quality, I didnโ€™t want to put it down. Feeling the highs and lows of life, both so intensely, is exhausting.

This book is proof that sometimes things just need to fall apart in order to get better, that sometimes rock bottom can become a sold foundation to rebuild on. Although most of the story is filled with sadness, it left me feeling hopeful, and I think thatโ€™s beautiful.

*read with care - there are lots of heavy, sensitive topics throughout this book, I recommend checking  trigger warnings

Very sad and perfectly captures a one sided relationship when you think that's all you deserve. I wanted to yell at her the whole time but also I've been her? A bit on the slower side, but worth the read. Definitely has some triggering topics, so I'd read the content warnings ahead of time

I wish I could adequately describe the ways in which this book healed my soul and soothed my broken heart, but I fear I will never be able to. This story held up a mirror to my life and invited me to look at myself through a set of new, kinder eyes. More than anything, this book filled me with hope. The final pages had me sobbing on my couch, and as the story concluded, I hugged the book to my chest and cried tears of joy and relief. This book found me, or perhaps I found it, at precisely the right moment in my life, and all I want to do is thank the beautiful soul who put this spark of light and hope into the universe. Genevieve Wheeler, if you just so happen to read this review, please never stop writing. Your book genuinely changed my life for the better, and I will never forget how this book made me feel seen and known and loved. Thank you for sharing this story with the world. Adelaide means everything to me. Thank you so much.
