Another good novel by Black! I enjoyed seeing the story she presented in the Maleficent world! While this wasn't my favorite of Black's novels, it was still enjoyable. I would love to have seen a bit more depth to the story.

I love Holly Black’s books and I love Disney, so what’s not to love about this story? I haven’t watched the Maleficent movies in a long time, but as a stand alone book, I really enjoyed this. I liked watching Philip struggle to articulate his feelings to Aurora and I loved how we saw a window into Aurora’s life after her “happily ever after.” This book made me want to go watch these movies all over again!

I received an E-ARC from Netgalley in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

I give this book a five out of five. Picking up months after the events of Maleficent it deals with how Aurora is dealing with being Queen of both the human kingdom and the moors. She hopes that the two lands can live in peace but generations of distrust make both sides wary of one another. To bring peace, Aurora proposes a festival to bring the faeries and the humans together and at the end she plans on signing a treaty that will ensure peace between the kingdoms long after she has gone. However strange things are afoot and there is a conspiracy to stopAurora from completing her task and it takes all of her wit and strength and courage to find the traitors and bring them to justice before she loses everything and everyone that she holds dear.

I loved this book! I got it a few years ago when it came out and I am so upset that I waited so long to read it! The story sucked me in and refused to let me put it down until I finished it even when my parents told me to got to bed. Highly recommend!

As someone who loves Maleficent as a villain and the live action movies, I throughly enjoyed the book. However, I would not recommend it to someone who was not a fan of Maleficent or Aurora.

Shout out to Diaval for being the best crow to not only Maleficent, but to Aurora.

“Love was terrifying in its power. Love was just plain terrifying.”

Love is terrifying, but so is defining it and letting go. Sometimes you just have to let things happen, and that things might be falling in love.

Holly Black has easily become one of my favorite authors, so it was a huge surprise to be that I had overlooked Heart of the Moors in my kindle library. That oversight has now been rectified.

Maleficent is a bad ass. She was once only an evil villain, but several recent retellings have given her shape and heart. Holly Black took the basics from recently released movies and molded them into her own retelling of all that happens after Aurora is crowned not only Queen of her kingdom, but also Queen of the Moors, the land on the outskirts of Penceforest, inhabited by the Fair Folk, otherwise known as the fae.

Aurora struggles to unite both lands under a peace treaty, but there are humans who wish to see the treaty demolished and Maleficent back in chains. With the help of Diaval, Prince Phillip, Maleficent and a host of other lovable creatures, Holly Black brings to life a new fairy tale, while keeping intact the concept that love conquers all as in every other fairy tale.
