Not really a thriller. The premise is insane, a woman marries the man who killed her son 10 years ago. She's 48, he's 28, they fall in love when she participates in the Restorative Justice program. Their union got all the responses you'd expect, but that wasn't the most ridiculous part in the book. Definitely didn't figure out the twists, every theory I had went down the drain. The ending was disappointing, the book overall was just okay.

Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Bridget is getting married to Tom the boy who killed her son and his best friend Jesse 10 years ago. Tom is also her ex best friends son. Her friends and family can’t understand why. But not is all as it seems.

I don’t want to spoil the twist and turns of the book.

After a night out best friends Jesse and Tom get into a fight and Jesse is killed. Tom is arrested, tried and found guilty of his murder.
Jesses devoted mother is shattered by the loss.
Ten years later she is marrying Tom, the man who killed her son.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It had a decent twist and kept me interested.
The family dynamic was well written and the characters were amazingly flawed.

A fast paced book that had me questioning everyone’s motives.

I listened on Audible. I personally love stories that are told from multiple perspectives. This book was perfect. Just the right amount of characters and easy enough to follow the story. That twist was not expected at all. I was so shocked. I was driving and listening. I literally had to pull over and listen to the chapter again. I really enjoyed this book and would def recommend it.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book! I did predict 2 things ahead of time, but there was so much going on, I didn't predict a lot of other things, and there's nothing I love more in a book than being surprised!

Note on the ARC @ 76%: Who are Richard and Joel? The names suddenly changed? I think "Richard" was mistakenly put instead of "Robert", and Joel was never introduced at all, so I just assumed he was a handyman of some sort?

*SPOILERS*

This was alright. I enjoyed the first half and did want to see how it would end. I’ll just write my unorganized thoughts:

Ended so suddenly

The neighbor/teacher was randomly was blackmailing Robert? Okay. Far-fetched and not even a good surprise.

So there was no hidden agenda with the marriage? Wtf

Unrealistic reactions and dialogue. Robert confessing immediately to killing coral, Ellis barely crying for coral

Long explanations of things by all characters (so many info-dumps)

Why the POV of Ellis? Was it to be a red herring? Why POV of the officers?

Jill and Bridget are friends again suddenly and Jill is totally happy with the marriage now?

The “twists” were not exciting, especially the last one. It was just meh.

Not very thrilling.

I like books that trigger an internal question within me, "would I be able to marry the person that kill my son?" that was what hook me in at the beginning. However, every main character in this book had a juicy secret and I kept going back and forth trying to figure it out! I have to admit I did not foresee that ending at all!! I really enjoyed it....and the 2 months later/the guest chapter just cracked me up!
