I wanted to read this before the movie comes out, it's a looong book but very well written. I couldn't help but love the two main characters and the way the story is told is cool and original. The story spans a time period of about twenty years, but we only get to see the characters on one day of each year, June 15th, the anniversary of the day they meet. Each chapter is the story of that one day of each year that Emma and Dex know each other, sometimes they are together and sometimes they aren't but no matter what we only get to see what they are doing on that one day. It's very charming and also very sad (I wont spoil it). Definitly worth reading :)

A sweet, funny story about real human relationships. It completely exceeded my expectations. It was one of those novels I wanted to live inside for a week or two while I was reading it, and now that I'm done I don't want to let it go. Beyond the plot and the characters and the narration, that's how I know it was a good book.

SpoilerI've always loved bittersweet endings, so Emma's death set this novel apart for me in a good way. I think Nicholls writes Dexter's reaction exceptionally well. As with the earlier parts of the novel, the emotions felt incredibly real. I found the ending devastatingly perfect.

I grabbed this book because the movie piqued my interest.

The book was good...and the perfect read during my week in London. I was quickly sucked in and it was definitely full of sweet stories and observations of a relationship between a man and a woman.

They meet in college...and every year the author gives the reader a glimpse into their lives.... whether they are in India, high on drugs....or working in a Mexican restaurant.

A good book.

**Second time around? Still love the book...and I know Dex is a bit of a jerk, that is what makes the book work....he grows out of his spoiled bratty ways.
