Charming cozy mystery. Poppy is preoccupied with solving mysteries (her own and others) in this one making her seem a bit distant from the other bakers and her own bakes. Well done by the author to make us feel how the distractions both impact Poppy’s baking and relationships with other people. I do hope for a return to connection in the next book though. Overall a good quick read.

Series: Great Witches Baking Show #3
Rating: 3 stars - I liked it

Poppy returns for week three of the Great British Baking Contest and finds herself struggling to concentrate on her baking. But she does discover more of her history at Broomewode hall, meet new friends, and says goodbye to others.

This was another fun and easy to read paranormal mystery. Poppy struggles in this one with the baking contest but she makes strides in finding out her history. I enjoyed watching her struggle this week with the contest because if you have ever watched the GBBO you know that everyone has a bad week eventually, so it made sense that it was Poppy's turn.

The mystery part of this book wasn’t very difficult and happened mostly towards the end of the story. It was a bit sad how the murder happened though. My only big issue with this series so far is that this is book three and Poppy has barely learned anything about witches or how to do magic. I did enjoy the continuation of Poppy’s story but I do hope we see more magic and a little bit more mystery in the next book.

Strange goings on

Strange Goings on continue to plague Poppy as she tries to get her head in the game. This book unravels more of poppy's origins but also raises more questions. Ghosts, seniors and biscuits cause lots of exciting action. Another fabulous read

This was not great. I really wish GR would update their rating system. 2 stars feels not fair, but it’s definitely not 3 stars, so 2.5. I wanted to love it. I want to love this series. The back story is fun because it’s witches and GBBO, and some of the characters are quirky - but it’s just not great writing and it’s so fluffy with nothing going on other than descriptions of the food. And the plot was just boring, it didn’t happen until about 3/4 of the way in. This was a real disappointment. I might try the 4th in the series because I’m hopeful and enjoyed the first a lot, the 2nd was good, this not so much.
