I read a ton of YouTuber books because I've been following that crowd since the 2010's. Strangely, I don't watch Lilly's videos. I did hear a ton about her though in other mediums, so I when I saw her book, I thought "Why not?". So glad I picked this up because IT WAS GREAT. I still have yet to watch a Lilly video but I'm going to start for sure. Although I usually stay away from the "hip lingo" like calling yourself a bawse, for example, I get what Lilly was going for here. Being a bawse is all about having confidence and faith in yourself as you go after your goals. It's about knowing your worth as a person and making other people see it after you see it in yourself. It's about getting shit done and putting in the work, not looking for ways to cheat or make it easy. It's about growth. This book is such a nice blend of practical advice and Lilly's personal journey. She also really does a great job of empowering the reader while also straight up calling out any bs we might try to pull with ourselves that might stop us from reaching our goals. She knows because she's been there and worked through it. Reading this was like sitting and talking with Lilly herself. She also is quick to point out when she's dropping names or flattering herself, which I loved. If she hadn't acknowledged it, this would be another one of those YouTuber books I disliked. But she calls it out and I like her so much for it because it also offers support for how hard she's worked to be able to do that. I recommend this to everyone looking to accomplish a goal or wanting to be more confident in themselves. It's well written and funny, as well as heart warming and straight to the point when it needs to be.

Pirmkārt, shout out grāmatai, kas spēja noturēt manu uzmanību šajā gadā!

I have followed Lilly Singh online for a few years now. She has a wonderful sense of humor, doesn't take herself too seriously, she seems like a very kind and genuine person. Every sentence in this book was her, I could hear her voice practically reading it to me. Whether you are a fan of hers or not, whether you are a business owner or employee there is something in this book that will touch you and inspire you. I would easily recommend this to anyone.
Enjoy!

What a lovely book! As a 40-year-old woman and mother to 3 kids, I might have been a little old for the book, however, I think I learned a lot about how to speak to my kids about their sense of self-image and confidence in a way that is better than what I was doing. It took me well into my late 30s to start to revamp what I mean to myself and how I was beholden to others and this book beautifully sets the stage for a different path. Completely wonderful and appropriate for all teens above the age of 13!

I usually don't go for self-help books, but this was on my list due to my sheer fandom for Lilly Singh. It's a book that can be handed to a teen or to anyone who is probably someone going through their "midlife crisis" even if they are 40 years old. Lilly, who gives her insight on her path to success and coming out of depression is a decent read for people looking for that small ray of inspiration.

I'll start by saying I'm not a fan of Lilly nor am I a hater.
The lessons in the book were rudimentary and could be boiled down to a few basic sayings, but this makes the book perfect for people in their early teens (her primary fanbase) who likely haven't had to learn these lessons yet. Although I personally didn't find the jokes humorous, I think a fan likely would.
I would also say Lilly made some big missteps in crafting her chapters. At the beginning of part 3 when Lilly began by calling out millennials for being "too coddled" and attempted to call others out for seeking validation through social media. I find this extremely ironic because all her success was born from the validation and popularity she received on social media. Additionally, later in part 3 (or possibly part 4) she says that someone who has been cheated on should look at what they are doing to cause their significant other to cheat which is gross to say and essentially victim blaming.
Finally, one of the biggest things that bothered me was the incessant flexing which she did throughout the book. I would guess that every famous person she met, video opportunity she had, or achievement she got was mentioned at some point in this novel. I think being proud of your achievements is great (especially when the achievements are huge like Lilly's). However, the issue with her flexing was that it often added very little to each lesson, and I'm sure other experiences would have felt more impactful and proved her points better.

there is hardly any page in book i didn't mark with sticky note! I read this book at the exact time of my life! I needed to hear those words! I needed to hear it's okay to feel the way I do as long as i don't stop trying to make my dreams come true! This book is not about any kind of life hack that will make you successful overnight! This is about the reality we must go through if we want to achieve our goals and be our very own superwoman! This book worked as mirror to me! When she described each thing i could literally see my flaw, where i am lacking!
She is a fangirl and she knows really well how to love the people she admire! The out of the blue sections are so genuine and raw! I felt like i was reading my own writing!!

Thanks foe writing this! and thanks for teaching me to embrace my flaw and use it for better purpose!
