This series is dark and the sex scenes are hot. This borders on the edge for my taste in overly controlling MMC that don’t bother asking for consent. Enough to take me out of the story from time to time when I consider what I’d do in the FMC’s situation.

Boring. Too long. Too much repetition. Only kept reading because I didn't want to DNF

@adelaideforrestauthor has quickly become one of my fav authors. I love being on her ARC team and I adore all stories related to the Bellandi Crime Syndicate.

This is Scar and Irina’s story. This book is not for the faint hearted! I love gore but there was one point in the story where I held my hand up against my Kindle to block out a chunk of text

5 out of 5 fantastic stars this book was absolutely phenomenal I don't think I've read a book in a long freaking time quiet like this. As soon as I read the blurb about this book I knew I had to read this book and man did it not disappoint at all. I don't want to give things away you just have to read it. Read the trigger warnings there's plenty throughout the book. This story will have you up in your feels as both mc's are so broken.

I have been anxiously and very patiently waiting for Scar's story and Adelaide Forrest did not disappoint. She gave me everything I thought I needed and so much more!
Scar's life has not been very kind to him, in the worse possible ways he has become who he is because of his past and what people he trusted had done to him. His horrendous past, his present as Ivory and Luna's personal bodyguard, have created a machine who suffers no remorse for what he does for the Bellandi family.
Irina enters into Scar's life, a beautiful butterfly that he feels is too good for him, and he keeps her at a distance, not allowing himself, or her, to get close. He feels unworthy, and resolves to go through his life without emotion or feelings and definitely feels incapable of love.
Adelaide produces characters who are severely flawed, thought to be unlovable, but she always weaves them couple together, matching their broken pieces and meshing them as one.
I will never be able to look at an axe again without envisioning that scene.
