Wow, I don’t even know where to begin. This book was a lot. Pretty traumatizing, especially at the beginning but once I got into the plot I couldn’t put it down. I would love to sit down and analyze this book to pieces with someone. It broke me for a while after reading it. Check the trigger warnings because there was a lot but if you’re interested in a feminist dystopian where you don’t know how it’s going to end—definitely check it out!

The Hunger Games meets the Maze Runner meets the Handmaid’s Tale. A little gruesome in parts but nothing too graphic. Immediately one of my favourite books; I read it in two days. Can’t recommend it enough. Perfect for those of us who loved those dystopian books when we were in school but want something a bit more reflective now. Loved it.

This book gave me serious The Village vibes from the start. I found it incredibly infuriating to read because the level of oppression just made my blood boil, especially because there were areas where I found the blind belief ridiculous. But that was the point of the book and I think it delivered its message incredibly well. Though some of the tropes were cliche and on the nose, I’m not too sure how else the development could have occurred. All and all a very entertaining read. I’m glad I picked this book up and will definitely recommend it to others.

This is the best distopia I have ever read!!
PLEASE READ THIS, here’s a few reasons;
•Hunger games but feminist but also •stand alone and no love triangle or technology
•Enemies to lovers but not quite
•Friends to lovers but not quite
•Silent revolution
•Bring down the patriarchy
•Really strong and badass main character
• amazing plot twist
• every woman has an amazing power within themselves
• beautiful family bond
• low-key lgbtqia+ representative (with phobia so beware)
• so well written
• really empowering
• Almost none named male characters
• “trust no one, not even yourself”

The Grace Year is a dark, thought-inspiring book that tells the story of the life and experiences of women under an extreme patriarchy. It has tropes of forbidden love and is a Hunger Games meets Handmaid's Tale experience. I finished the entire book in less than 24 hours, and it left me wanting more with each page.
