Catching Caden: story of Caden and Murphy

I absolutely loved this book and Samantha Christy’s writing style.

I’ve read a few books now from this author and everything has been great. I am slowly working my way through her catalogue.

This story was a sweet love story with a great HEA.

Can’t wait to read the next one in this series.

OMG such a lovely book

This book was so cute. One of the best romance novels I’ve read definitely one of my favorite. I want some more Caden and Murphy!!!

(I had already read this when I decided to revisit some pre-read books to help boost me out of a slump.)

Samantha Christy tends to put her characters through a lot. They often have lost people they loved, they've got physical or emotional trauma, essentially they all have baggage. I would put a general trigger warning on all her books. Caden and Murphy are no exception. I liked that they let their friendship grow and didn't just jump into bed together as soon as either felt the slightest bit of attraction (some times insta love works, sometimes we need to know each other a few weeks). Some of their trauma seems a little weak compared to the other characters in the universe.

I was provided a copy of this book so that I could leave an honest review.

Another awesome story. I have loved every book of Ms Christy that I have read. I stayed up late 2 nights reading because this book was that good.

I fell in love with Caden. I didn't want the book to end. I hope there is more of him in the next book.

I love how all there are links between the books but you're not lost if you haven't read them. I like seeing the bits and pieces of all the characters I've fallen in love with.

I cannot wait for her next book.

I liked the main story between the hero and the heroine, but there were other problematic characters (including a trans character that was not done any sort of justice) that knocked this read down for me.

Caden is the star of the New York-based baseball team, the Nighthawks. Murphy is the small town girl in the Big Apple trying to build a modelling career. When Caden's home run ball shatters Murphy's cheekbone at a game, the two unexpectedly build a friendship and become close.

Overall I liked it -the writing and editing was good (one of my real bug bears is reading an e-book littered with mistakes, so thank you!) and the story flowed, even if it was a little predictable.

A couple of things bothered me though
Spoiler- firstly, how little self respect all of Murphy's housemates had for themselves that they were all sleeping with a glory-hunting IT guy. They're models for chrissakes, Tony really didn't sound special enough to warrant them all fighting over him. I know they were created to be dislikeable but it was a little far fetched.

Secondly, it was all a bit borderline incestuous. Of all the millions of people in NYC why do all the siblings in one family have to marry all the siblings in another family? And a mother from one family getting with a father from one of the others? It's weird.

I also disliked that, in order for Caden and Shane to reconcile, they had to paint Caden's dead mother in a bad light. As a single parent this irked me slightly. The hints about Lexi going missing bothered me too. Why did she disappear? Where did she go? What happened? Why include it in the story if it's not going to be expanded upon?

However, that said, it was a quick, easy and predictable read which is exactly what I wanted at the time and at least the main characters were likeable.
