Overall I was bored most of the time but at the end it made me realised how we really have no idea what someone else goes through and we never know someone's reasons, as a first book by this author I'd say it has potential but definitely Playlist for the dead isn't going to be my favourite

I really liked that I knew like 5 songs from the playlist. The story is a bit sad because of how lonely the main character was and why his bestfriend committed suicide. But I think the playlist kind of missed its point because while the main character was listening to it throughout the story, at the end it didn't help him understand his bestfriend. So it was kind of disappointing for me coz I expected the author to explain maybe why the song was included in the playlist and why it was left for the main character.

Four Stars because the book wasn’t awful. It wasn’t amazing but it was enjoyable enough.

3.5 stars.
The mystery portion was too good, though, romance was there in bits and I would have loved more of it.

I didn't see the twists coming. Started and completed in a go today.

Not a bad book in and of itself--although I didn't like the end much--but one thing that really stood out to me, and indeed made me dock it a star, was a factual error. The character mentions a comic written by "a bunch of members of The Dresden Dolls." Not only have the Dols only ever had two members, but the character is supposed to be a music expert. I'd accept it from anyone who wasn't supposed to be a comic book lover, and music-expert. I think I know where it came from--Dolls front woman Amanda Palmer once wrote a graphic novel with friend Jason Webley, never a Doll himself--but that doesn't excuse the inaccuracy. I thought maybe because they're less mainstream, but my sixty-four year-old mother knew who the Dresden Dolls were years before I got into them through Amanda's music.

It's a small glitch that most people wouldn't notice, I get that, but it really made me take the entire book less seriously.

Playlist for the Dead is a story about Sam, who’s best and only friend, Hayden commits suicide. Hayden leaves Sam with a note, a playlist of 27 songs which seem to have a hidden meaning to them. As Sam begins to decipher the songs, he learns more and more about Hayden’s life that was not ever shared with him. As he discovers the reasons to why Hayden killed himself, he meets Astrid. Through out his journey, he figures out more about Hayden, and realizes that Astrid is more than what she seems.
I found this book very well written and enjoyable. Falkoff is able to convey Sam’s growth as a person and how he overcomes Hayden’s death with the pressures being put on him. One part which I didn’t really like is how Sam’s grief is not really portrayed in the duration of the book. Overall, I enjoyed this book a lot and would recommend it.
