The few books leading up to this one had me very frustrated. It felt like Richard and Kahlan could never catch a break but this book finally tied up the lose ends. Prophecy has followed Richard through the whole series and it always felt like an enemy in itself. It was very fitting that Richard finally discovered the basis of prophecy put it to rest.

Before I started reading I wrote this:
"Just re-read the last three books. Not as good as the previous books, and the 'Omen machine' is definitely my least favorite of them all, but still...I just want to continue reading about Richard and Kahlan and all the others...
Now I want to know how the story continues, and can't wait to start this last one.
But at the same time don't want to start this one since after this one the story will be over..."
And now that I have finished it...
I'm left with a hole in my chest. The last book. Finished...
I read it in less than a week. Which is quite fast for me. But I just couldn't put it down.
I loved it.
Thank you Terry, for all the hours of fun and companionship reading about Richard and Kahlan and all the others in their world.
I have to let it sink in all a little I think.
And wonder what I am going to read next...

I started reading this series nearly 6 years ago and I instantly fell in love. These books got me through a lot of hard times and I have made many good memories because of them. Following the story of Richard and Kahlan for so long has been a journey. While I'm a bit sad that it's over, I am very satisfied with how it all ended.

I'm sad to have reached the end of road with Richard & Kahlan but it's time. Their story has gone as far as it can.

Sadly, I was very disappointed with Warheart since it is the conclusion to The Sword Of Truth series, my favourite. I wish I could say that the story has come full circle, but I definitely can't.
As far as I'm concerned, Confessor was the end of this sequence and the rest was just filler nonsense; none of his later works can compare to his earlier works and I have been tempted to DNF more than one - annoying and unnecessary repetition, intelligent characters being dumb af, and long, long chapters describing miles of forest.
The end of this just feels rushed and hopes the reader is satisfied with the outcome; I finished this because I had to, you know? Being my fave and all.

Hot dang, we are here, at the end of a long journey. I want to leave the rest of the series behind for a bit and I want to just focus on Warheart. When I ended this book my heart was torn, I was so content because of the journey and the experience, I still have those memories and I still have the nostalgia for what I gained and how it changed me and I am sad and I have a sense of bittersweet melancholy that has soaked into my pores and bones.
“Time to dance with death.”
This is it, it is the final book of the Sword of Truth series, we are seeing our adventures with Lord Richard Rahl, Mother Confessor Kahlan, Cara, Nicci and eveyone else coming to an end. We were left with the tragic events of Severed Souls and we find that the world is hanging by a thread. Emperor Sulachan, his ally Hannis Arc is marching toward the People's Palace followed by their army of the walking dead, horrible people that devour flesh, seeking a soul for themselves.
All they want to do is break the Grave that is the division between the world of the living and the world of the dead unraveling all of existence. The only person who can stop this is the bringer of death. The pebble in the pond. The Seeker of Truth. Richard Rahl. He's the only one who can end this prophecy and save what is left of mankind. But....Richard is trapped in the underworld, held by demons and Kahlan and Nicci are on a desperate race to bring him back before it's all too late.
Maybe it already is.
“Master Rahl guide us.”
This is a series that will always be close to my heart no matter how much I disliked certain books in the series.
“Master Rahl protect us.”
This book is focused on the battles between prophecy and free will, the balance between life and death and it overturned beliefs we took for granted throughout the series.
“In your light we thrive.”
Severed Souls butchered my soul until I wanted to stop the series and Warheart redeemed Severed Souls and mended the wounds although it did inflict some new wounds of its own that you had to expect. I had to let go of cherished characters, say goodbye, choke on tear, feel my hands tremble and pray that Richard and Kahlan got their happily ever after.
“In your mercy we are sheltered.”
Richard does have his crazy ideas but he holds firm to them. Kahlan is my inspiration, the Mord-Sith with their sass and overprotective instincts are the proof you can find joy in the simple things, Nicci is the example that anyone can change.
“In your wisdom we are humbled.”
Richard draws the Sword of Truth and was consumed by its righteous rage and I could always hear its metallic ring in my head and I'd feel its fury boil under my skin.
“We live only to serve.
Our lives are yours.”
Our lives are yours.”

After being disappointed, and highly critical of the previous couple of Richard and Kahlan novels I was relieved and grateful that Warheart was a book which is worthy of the original Sword of Truth series.
It has not only has avoided (well minimised) the repetition and fillers which plagued the previous books, but has drew up the story into an exciting and eventful conclusion.
The pacing of the novel is excellent, keeping you entertained throughout; you don’t want to put the book down! The author really has returned to his “A” game and produced a solid and entertaining book.
If you’ve read the other books but were reserved continuing after their poor execution, it is definitely worth forging on! If you stopped after Confessor however it’s more difficult to recommend reading the first three books to get here, but if your dedicated to the series its probably worth it.
Overall a great read and a high point in the series which towers monumentally above its predecessors! I only hope Terry Goodkind remains in this form when writing the next books in the First Confessor series!
