This was a good read.
Interesting and honest accounts of war.
I liked it much better than [b:Storm of Steel|240485|Storm of Steel|Ernst Jünger|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1348605815l/240485._SY75_.jpg|232965]

This was by far the best war-fiction I’ve read. Remarque’s writing is incredible, the way he characterizes the soldiers and the inner thoughts of Paul (main character) are just so intense. From the first sentence of the novel, you are included in the story, you are part of their horrific journey. The author’s note in the beginning is what you think about after finishing the novel: “It [the book] will simply try to tell of a generation of men who, even though they may have escaped shells, were destroyed by the war.”

This book is too gory for my liking... I found myself more stressed by this reading than enjoying it, so I had to put it down because it wasn't doing me any good!
