2.75 stars, this started off well and then it pissed me off.

The drunk Vegas wedding is always a set up I find funny, until I remember how much I hate fake dating. Fake marriage is a little bit better, but still, eh.

Parker is the Romantic of his group of friends, looking for his Prince Charming and his Happy Ever After. He has terrible luck with men, though and is losing hope. Elliott has been flirting with Parker for a year, but his fun, casual and frequent sexual encounters are a turn off for Parker. When they both meet in Vegas and get drunk, they never expected to wake up married. For the sake of keeping up appearances, they decide to stay together for 6 months before parting ways. But as they spend more time together and acknowledge their mutual attraction, they decide to start dating.

The whole plot felt so contrived and the conflicts were so dumb, but that’s mostly because it is a very regular fake dating with the usual fake dating tropes. Parker being insecure and refusing to see that Elliott obviously has feelings for him. Elliott is just so caring and spoils him rotten because he likes to do it and knows Parker loves it. Elliott is actually a pretty good communicator, and I really liked that about him. And then, Parker makes a whole drama out of nothing and that was so annoying. The whole ending with the « reveal » of their lie was rushed, happened and was resolved in like 20 pages. Huh. I don’t know, the reasons that pushed them to stay married felt so insignificant.

They were actually adorable together, despite the whole Parker’s inability to communicate or plot blindness to Elliott’s obvious feelings. The praise kink between them was hot as fuck and they were so whipped it was so sweet. Same as in Book 1, I feel like the trope was forced and came at the detriment of a cute couple. I’d probably have enjoyed this wayy more if we had just seen them give dating a chance without the entire wedding sham I think.

On to the next book, I like Marcus but I hate age gaps so we will see how it goes i guess. But this series is far from my fave Riley Hart series so far

Elliot was such a charmer and I loved seeing the way he so naturally gave into his feelings for Parker. However I found myself getting very frustrated with Parker at times. Even prior to their accidental marriage, he is so set in his mindset of Elliot being a flirt and not wanting anything outside of sex with him that he closes himself off to their growing feelings and connection. He holds a fair amount of judgement towards Elliot when he talks about never being in love or it ever being something he's thought about. He chalks it up to Elliot being a player, but over the course of the story Elliot comes to realize he's probably on the ace/demiromantic spectrum. I wouldn't judge Parker for not considering that if it weren't for the fact he co-hosts a podcast about sexuality and relationships. But he's so set on his beliefs about love and relationships that those ideas hurt Elliot and himself at tims over the course of the book.

Wow, I really loved this story. It started out pretty low key, with two guys who could have been right for each other had the circumstances lined up better but ended up not working out, then transitioned into an unexpected and uncertain fake/real marriage where Parker and Elliot had to learn a lot about each other really fast, then morphed again into a cozy and sweet relationship with swoony dates, deliciously repressed feelings (that were so obvious to everyone except the oblivious couple), and the steamiest steam. Parker and Elliot were seeking very different things from a partner in the beginning, and yet somehow they fell in love anyway--which is one of my favorite types of stories. It was just so sweet to see how attentive Elliot was, even when he didn't think he wanted a love connection, and the way Parker got all melty under Elliot's praise even when he knew he shouldn't be falling for him was my kryptonite. These two had crazy chemistry--even when they didn't want to admit it--and once they added in an emotional connection I was a goner. I enjoyed the grumpy sniping in the beginning, the shock and horror of waking up married, the tense fake marriage pact, the buildup as Elliot and Parker realized their feelings were growing, and the things they each learned about themselves in the process. I angsted over whether or not these two dummies would ever be brave enough to confess their feelings and fell apart when the make or break moment came and it didn't seem like they would make it through. Riley Hart took me on one heck of a journey, and I love, love, loved all the messy and imperfect pieces. I don't even have words for how much I was swooning in the end when Elliot and Parker finally, finally took that leap of faith, and my god was that ending the happiest endorphin rush. I feel like I'm The Romantic instead of Parker, because I seriously don't think I could get enough of the love in this book.

**I voluntarily read an ARC of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.

Mr Romantic

Awe!!! I fell in love with this tight knit group! Parker is looking for his forever plus one but has had a rough time on his journey. Elliot doesn’t want commitment and enjoys his bachelor lifestyle. One night in Vegas and these two might have a change of heart lol! I loved both characters and I love those Vers group! I am excited for Marcus and Corbin so can’t wait for the next one!

I'm crying while writing this so if there's any typo blame this book that caused me an emotional breakdown.
I'm obsessed with Parker and Elliott they are so sweet and supportive of each other, I love how they care so much about each other and remember small details about the other, that truly shows the love and affection they feel.
This accidental marriage thing was dealt so well in my opinion, except for the little drama towards the end, but it doesn't matter because they got the happy ending they deserve, and omg I really don't know what else to say because I can't find the words to describe how much I appreciated this book, Parker is such a sweet main character, I totally loved his Romantic personality, and Elliott is such a simp for him
