Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic!!

Stop everything you're reading. Pick up your phone or tablet. Get the Marvel Unlimited app! Buy a month's subscription. This comic alone will be worth the month's fee!!

The intergalactic, computer, and nerdy humor. The loveable, adorable nature of Groot - his love of everyone and his willingess to help anyone out. Rocket's trigger happy tendencies. It all works really well. Plus the art is phenomenal! Groot's expressions convey a lot of emotion. And there are times when there are images inside block letters of "I AM GROOT" to illustrate his thoughts and emotions.

It's a wonderful story, with lots of little hiccups in the intergalactic travels. In the end, it's a story about giving of yourself, being grateful, and be there for others.

Who would have thought that a comic book with Groot as the main character would have so many feels?? Great story, fantastic art, and some touching moments. <3

In Groot Volume 1 our arboreal hero gets separated from Rocket Raccoon, leaving him without his translator and BFF.

This premise riskily puts the spotlight on a character that can only say variations of the phrase "I am Groot". And Lovess et al pull it off so so well. Groot's adventures through a galaxy that can't understand him are funny, clever and heartwarming. The art is so much fun, one of many highlights being the Grootified Marvel heroes dream sequence (I hope Spider-Groot shows up in Web Warriors one day!).

Although I wish the run was longer I thought it had a really fitting end. I welled up a little.

I would really recommend this comic as a whistle-stop tour around the Marvel Universe with one of the most endearing characters as a guide. I also challenge you not to fall in love with Mantron.

while well done over all, i can't decide if they ran out of ideas for the comics and just through something together at the end to make six issues or if they had too many ideas and were limited to only six issues. either way, while the story starts strong, the end is entertaining but weak.

Sometimes rating collections is really difficult. I picked this one up because issue 6 of this series is one of my favorite comics of recent years. Everything I love about Groot are in this issue. The gentle giant. So, I am sad to say that I did not enjoy this book. I think a younger me or audience would, but this was not my cup of tea.
Find issue 6 and enjoy, it's a five star production, otherwise check out or borrow this one.

Groot & Rocket are en-route to Earth to do a little sight-seeing and track down a special friend from Groot's past when Rocket is kidnapped as bait by a pirate hoping to collect on the immense reward money being offered for Groot. Groot has multiple solo adventures & collects a unusual team of misfits to aid him in rescuing Rocket. We learn about Groot's origins and get the opportunity to see how he changes those he meets. This book had me laughing out loud, especially the robot who had to use a floppy drive to upload his fight program. It's a delightful read & I would highly recommend it to everyone.

I kid you not, this has probably become one of my favorite comic books. Hear me out on this.

It's a story about friendship, loss, and acceptance. It's a story with laughs, action, and philosophy. It's a story that jerks at the tears and the heart, yet it centers around a character whose vocabulary is only 3 words (that are only spoken in a certain order).

The writing flows and the art adds to the characters and the setting. It's stuff like this that show me why I read comics.

This is a funny, charming, and touching comic. There are so many stories that are rooted in cynicism or Nietzschean power dynamics that it's refreshing to find one rooted in optimism, empathy, and kindness. I grabbed this at the library to bring home to my kids, and I found myself as engaged in it as I'd hoped they'd be.

"Groot" is just plain wonderful. If you like this genre, or if you enjoyed the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' movies, you can't go wrong with "Groot."
