This is a High School forbidden/taboo romance. She's the young new substitute teacher. He is one of the top dogs in school, plus his mother is the principal. She thinks he's one of those kids who is full of himself and feels entitled. He thought she was an ice princess with a stick up her bum. Both were wrong. In addition to the romance aspect of the book, there are the secrets that she is keeping. We get some insight to them in the beginning, but it's hinted at that there are things we don't know (and don't find out til the end.) There are a a couple suspenseful moments. I think their relationship (or rather their feelings) grew a little too quick. It was kinda like one minute they didn't like each other and the next they were in love. He was a good guy. And although they had to keep their relationship a secret (she was his teacher after all, and let's not forget that his mom was her boss,) he defended her whenever she needed it (even if she didn't know she needed it.) He was there for her when she needed help. With all the stuff involving her secrets, she doesn't have much to offer him, but herself. He is happy with that. There are some side characters that you will love to hate. And we get glimpses of who future books will be about. The book alternates POVs. There is some sexual content. It reads easily. This is part of a series, but each book can be read as a stand alone.

*I received an ARC of this book.

This was my first book by Rachel Leigh, and I'm happy to say I was not disappointed! I have to be honest I usually don't like age difference stories when the younger one is still in high school, but I gave this one a chance anyway. The story of Claire and Knox is not what is seems at face value. Of course she's running from a pretty questionable past and unfortunately it comes back to haunt her and Knox gets caught in the crossfire. But don't worry, it will work itself out. ;)

With a little age difference, a lot of love and just enough steam Like You was a fun way to spend an afternoon.

Book two and we get Knox and Claire and oh man. This book is a student/teacher. Claire is on the run for her abuse ex and a bunch of drama. She gets a job as a teacher at Redwood High school. Knox has it all and well now he wants Claire. The growth Claire goes through in this book is so emotional. I had a hard time putting down this book.

Claire & Knox
a student/teacher forbidden romance
Claire is an art teacher at the school and is running away from a bad marriage. There is a lot of secrets to her and her past that she’s worried can catch up to her at any time.
Knox is a senior and happens to live right next door to Claire, and uses this to his advantage.
I think this was written fantastically, and you really don’t get the feeling that their relationship is so forbidden. They connect so easily and he is 18 anyways so it’s not too taboo, other than he is still a student and there is an age gap.
There is a lot of mystery around Claire, who she is and where she comes from and I love how it all unfolds.

I loved this book so much! It’s a heartfelt romance and a suspense novel all rolled into one. Claire has escaped from her mobster husband and finds love with her next door neighbor (and student!) Knox, who we met in the previous book in this series. This is a sweet romance with some mildly suspenseful bits, but it’s never too angsty or stressful. The perfect comfort read! I love the author’s style, and I can’t wait to read the third book - which stars Axel and Harper.

Honestly, I was so excited to read this book. The previous book cover has engrossed me for the longest time. But the pages always intimidated me due to its length. It finally caught my eyes at the right time. And let me just say… I feel sick.

Like literally sick. I have no idea if it’s the book or the fact that I didn’t eat for nine hours today and was fucking starving when I got home and shoved a whole ass pile of food in me so fast that now I feel nauseous. Or really, it could be because this is a student-teacher romance and her name is Claire… the same as the show “A Teacher”, the one Nick Robinson is in. Yes, he was the reason I watched it. Anyway, that show was… unsettling. And so this chick being named Claire… oh, man… that’s kinda… bad.

I just didn’t like anyone. And I mean, I think it was a bit rushed. God, I just didn’t like this. Knox, bro, I mean he’s… he’s okay. He’s, you know, there? Like, hey man?

I have no idea what I want to say anymore. I just want to stop wanting to have to vomit. I’m so fucking nauseous. It must not be the story then since I’m done it, yet I wanna vomit so bad.

Thank you to Tormented Book Tours and the author, Rachel Leigh, for providing a copy of Like You (Redwood High book 2) as a part of the series makeover tour. I have reviewed honestly.

Like You features, but is not limited to, the following themes:
○ New adult
○ Enemies to lovers
○ Student/teacher
○ Forbidden romance
○ Tragic past
○ Contemporary romance

My overall rating for Like You is…

4 Stars!

I feel like "Like You" had a totally different flavour to the previous books that I've read by Leigh. In this intense, forbidden romance, we have a female high school teacher with a tragic past and a hunky high school boy. With the slight age gap, you get the best if both worlds, when reading from each point of view. I enjoyed Knox's point of view and found his character surprisingly not at all what I had expected. Claire also felt unique when comparing her to other FMCs in Leigh's works. I also really loved the whole teacher/student storyline, because, let's be real, there's something so thrilling and enticing about such a taboo affair. Overall, I loved the general feel of the book and can't wait to read Axel's book.

Like You is book 2 in the Redwood High series. This is Knox and Claire’s story.

You get a bit of age gap, mafia, and forbidden romance with a student/teacher. I really enjoyed their love story. Claire was reserved and standoffish at first. She had a hidden, dark past and never had plans to fall in love, but ole sweet Know wore her down. Angst, drama, suspense and plenty of steam. Definitely recommend and I’m excited for Axel’s story.
