This book shocked me it was a dark twisted psychological thriller. Filled with unreliable characters who were deeply flawed in their own way. Told in the POV of Lily and and Carla. Newly Married Lily and Ed are beginning their new lives together. Lily is starting her career as a criminal Lawyer and she’s insecure when she uncovers some of her husbands secrets, and Ed as an artist. Carla a little Italian girl who is very manipulative lives with her single mother who has regular visits from a man named “Larry”, they befriend Lily and Ed after an incident happened at school. Soon Ed begins to paint little Carla and finds success after his painting of Carla which he named ItalianGirl gains attention. When Lily takes on a new client Joe Thomas who was convicted of murdering his girlfriend she sees her career take off and also her life gets complicated, did Joe really do it? The book jumps twelve years and it appears Lily and Ed’s lives have completely changed and their world is turned upside when the now adult Carla drops into their lives. From here the plot changes with a murder, lies and revenge and soon your head is spinning with which character to believe whose lying?

Abandoned... for now, at least. Just couldn't get into it and the characters were not speaking to me.

Wow wow wow what a book! What a story! I had no idea what was going on but that’s a good thing. It kept me wanting to know more, and just as soon as I thought I had it figured out... I realized I was clueless again lol one of my favorite books of 2018!! 5+ stars! I listened to the audiobook version but I will be buying this in paperback to re-read asap!!

I've been wanting to read this book ever since I first saw the cover on a shelf probably at least a year ago. Why I didn't pick it up, I have no clue. Eventually, I had to have it. I read a few reviews, saw that most people thought it was pretty good, and figured it was finally time.

Long story short, I should've picked this one up ages ago.

For some reason I love domestic thrillers. There's something so "close to home" about the relationship between the protagonist and antagonist and how they coexist that gets me. I swear, every review I write makes me out to be some sort of crazy person but the more insane and psychopathic the characters, the more I tend to love them. Make of that what you will.

The best thing about this book is that it's not just one antagonist - at some point, everyone in the cast seems to play that role. It makes for a very interesting dynamic and one that was never at any point boring or predictable. I also found that at various points each character played a role where you felt a level of endearment toward them - any author that can make me both love and hate a character within the span of 400 pages is truly talented in my eyes.

What did I think?: Honestly, this is one of my favorite books that I've read in a long time. I was impressed not just with the story but also the flow of writing and how the different perspectives didn't feel clunky or irritating. I was left with cliff-hangers that kept me up well past my bedtime.

Who should read it?: If you enjoy thrillers and enjoy the unique relationships that can exist between characters that genuinely dislike one another, this is going to be a good choice for you. I can't recommend it enough, especially if you're a fan of legal or courtroom dramas as it has enough of that to qualify but not enough that you feel bogged down in it.

Nearly 400 pages of [a:Jane Corry|15241064|Jane Corry|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1485797349p2/15241064.jpg]'s psychological thriller that I was very excited about reading felt more like 4,000 pages. I kept waiting to understand the title of [b:My Husband's Wife|31227076|My Husband's Wife|Jane Corry|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1471284547l/31227076._SY75_.jpg|45514375]...and, unfortunately, a connection (but not a twist or jaw-dropping revelation) was made until deep in the novel. Told from two points of view, over a span of nearly two decades, this book kept my interest while reading, but it did not keep me from putting it down. I was deeply invested in the character of Lily, and also of Joe, but in the end, neither character had a shocking transformation. Jane Corry started My Husband's Wife out so very strong, with Lily defending Joe, and Carla as a troubled child. Part Two did not live up to the first half, and left me wanting so much more from a thriller said to be "a must-read" (BUSTLE) and "provocative...delicious...addictive" (THE WASHINGTON POST). I am curious about [b:Blood Sisters|35580277|Blood Sisters|Jane Corry|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1515372747l/35580277._SY75_.jpg|51044685], and may give [a:Jane Corry|15241064|Jane Corry|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1485797349p2/15241064.jpg] another try.

This book was very long, good, but too much going on. At the end I felt like they kept changing the ending because she "figured" stuff out. Good twists and turns but I felt like the author couldn't end it one way.

I was disappointed with this. Aside from the ridiculous amount of fat shaming, until of course the main character “toned up”, there really wasn’t much to this.

The characters were bland, annoying, and unlikeable. I really didn’t care about any of them. The premise was interesting, but obvious. I wasn’t surprised or on the edge of my seat at any point during the story, and I most certainly was NOT shocked at “who done it.” I also felt like the author recycled the same plot from earlier chapters later on in the story.

Lastly, the ending was really rushed. I think trying to throw everything together within the last 40 pages was a bad call. More happened in those 40 pages than in the whole novel!

Interesting plot and premise... Lily, the main character, is presented with two versions of her personality that just don’t fit together. I found it very distracting.
