M/F sci-fi romance.

Alien/alien pairing this time around, not human/alien.

Quick, easy read that is still somewhat "light-hearted" despite dealing with grief and the loss of a child. The discussions between the FMC and MMC were occasionally repetitive, but fans of the Ice Planet Barbarians series will likely still enjoy this instalment overall.

I enjoyed reading Asha's POV and thought her budding friendship with Claire was cute.

Me before reading this book: hmm, I'm not sure the premise of this one will grab me as much. I am already 10 books in (not including novellas), they can't continue being as consistently good and fresh, right?
Me, two minutes into the audiobook: oh god, Asha,

⭐️3.75 this just appears to be my least favorite in IPB series so far. I do feel sorry and understand the grieving part of losing a child but I am not convinced that the communication issue can be so easily solved between Asha and Hemalo. Maybe that’s why we have Claire as third POV in this book who befriends Asha and encourage her to look forward and make her aware that there will be people to support her when she is down.

I love the part where Bek and Claire sort things out and become friends again.

This was fine.
We get 3 POVs in this book: Asha, Hemalo, and Claire. I really didn't care for Asha and I'm still pretty 'meh' about her. Hers and Hemalo's story didn't make me feel much and I skimmed a lot of it tbh. Like, why did we spend so long reading about Asha trying to feed Metlaks? I get she cared for the kit because she lost hers but why did it drone on for so long?

I liked it because we're moving forward with the story so for that I still give it a -> 3/5

Book 10 of the “Ice Planet Barbarian” series. You do not need to read the other books to read this one.
This is Asha’s and Hemalo’s story that will either reconnect as mates. Or break them apart forever.
I feel like this is the book that we really get to see what is behind our spunky Asha and quiet Hemalo. I do have to give a small warning with this book. As we learned These two mates lost a child. She wasn’t very old, and they do talk about this in the story. Honestly because of how Dixon wrote the characters working through this. And the growth they both have by the end. The warning rating is only a 2/10.
Asha shows us that spunky kinda mean side we have come to expect from her. But we also see the real side to her as well. I enjoyed learning more about her. Even though we learned about Asha from the other books. I felt like by reading this, I saw a side I never expected. The ending felt like it fit the story line well. And I felt like Asha got what she deserved.
And sweet Hemalo. Poor Hemalo. We saw a more selfish side to him in this story. Though I think he had good intentions. As we watched him struggle with the hand he was given in life. We also saw him try to do what he thought was right, for all of them.
I’m giving this book a 7/10 rating. The story line was great, the characters emotional, and I read it in one sitting!
