concept was good, execution of it? poor to say the very least, and to go along with that it is filled with racism, micro-agressions, transphobia, and loads of slut shaming. i don’t recommend it

I give up. I can't read this book. There should be an option on here for "could only get halfway through" so that way people who can't force themselves through a book can acknowledge they tried without having to say they've read the whole gosh darned thing.

2.5, seeking connections with people - so important; ultimately though, I didn't care if most of these connections were made.

This is a book that I perhaps would recommend to a select few people.
It definitely was a book I enjoyed, but it did feel like it dragged on for a while. It was an amazing portrayal of what we do when we are facing the end. I loved the characters development throughout the book and the scene at the end was incredible and sweet.

I really loved this book for so many reasons. While reading it, I was constantly thinking about what a great read this would be for high school students. How there are such big topics and questions, and how great it would be for any number of discussions.

End of the world. Relationships. Love. Fear. Belief. Reason. Big questions.

Awesome!

I had really high hopes for this book - great cover, amazing concept (basically The Breakfast Club meets Deep Impact), but it really fell flat for me. The book started out strong with some potentially interesting characters. But by the second half, I started losing interest. What I thought would be a romantic end-of-the-world story turned into a huge mess. I would have been fine if this book didn't have much of a plot, so the author's attempt to give the story momentum had the opposite effect for me and the book came to a screeching halt. His poorly constructed antagonists just took away from the main characters and distracted from the primary story. I will say that the writing itself was great - there was so much potential here, but it felt like a waste.

I read some reviews of this book, and I have to admit that I was slightly nervous to read this. However, I think that it was actually a good book. I could have used a couple more chapters, but that's just me. Overall, I think it was an interesting concept and I don't understand why people DNFed this.

This story was interesting and unique, but came up kind of short at the end. I understand that there was no way to win in that type of situation, but a non-answer was NOT the right approach.

The characterization was great. I wanted the best for each character, and they had some pretty cool thoughts. At the same time, they all kind of morphed into the same type of person. Reckless, young, stupid, desperate… You know how it goes.

I really hated how one person’s story ended. I find it hard to believe that things could escalate like that. Maybe I’m naive, but I can’t imagine such scumminess in the face of adversity. I honestly think people are more likely to come together with a sense of helpless camaraderie. Oh well.

I also didn’t like how everyone was either painted as a slimy mafioso or pensive hippie. It was hard to relate to them, that’s for sure!
