I don’t even know where to start with this book! I absolutely loved the urban fantasy setting with fae and vampyres.

This book follows Calia Darrow, a descendent of the fae royal line. Due to a deal made by her ancestor, she is to marry a vampyre, or both will have to forfeit their lives. The vampyre she is set to marry is Rion D’arcy, who is gorgeous and a notorious playboy. When Calia meets Rion, she can’t help the attraction and is instantly drawn to him, while Rion insists that their marriage will be in name only. But after an attempt to kidnap Calia, things being to change between them. Calia finds herself falling for Rion, but it seems the closer she gets the more secretive and invasive he becomes, particularly about the history of the deal that affects both their families. When answers begin to arise, will they be able to salvage their relationship or will blood be shed?

“Whether he voiced it or not, I knew Rion was falling just as hard as I was. I only hoped we didn’t crash and burn.”

The Night Runs Red was so captivating and I could not put it down. Calia was such a relatable FMC and it was so refreshing to see a character that a lot of women can relate to. My heart broke for her given the situation she found herself in. Alone with no friends or family, and a grumpy husband who wants nothing to do with her. But she held her head up high and refused to cower, and I was damn proud! And Rion… he was so rude and there were times where I wanted to give him a piece of my mind! But once he starts to warm up to Calia, I fell in love. He was protective, caring, and truly making an attempt in their marriage. The spice was perfect and the chemistry between these two was incredible. The ending left me speechless and I need the next book ASAP. I will be stalking Amber’s socials for any crumbs she may give about when we can expect it! Highly recommend checking this book out!

Years ago, to stop the war between the Fae and vampyres, King Calix of the Fae was able to make a deal where the heir of the Fae and heir of the vampyres would marry to keep the tenuous peace between their races. It is now Calia’s turn as heir to the Fae to marry Rion D’Arcy heir of the vampyres. After an interesting and intense wedding, they are married and Calia is taken to the vampyres side. Here she is trying to live with Rion, but he wants nothing to do with her. As she continues to go with the notions she slowly learns there’s more to Rion than meets the eye and is determined to find out everything about him.

This was an enjoyable steamy read! The world is unique and there are twists, secrets and betrayals in here! I loved how this relationship developed, a bit slow and a bit fast. Although what I found out later makes me wonder about this relationship

I love when I find shorter paranormal romance or fantasy novels to read in between behemoths (I’m looking at you, When the Moon Hatched & House of Flame and Shadow). This was a fast, fun read! The world-building was not difficult to understand and there were a few twists I didn’t see coming. I really related to Calia’s character and appreciated the exploration of her body image & confidence. It takes awhile for the heat to build, but when the spice hits it is SPICY! The book ends on a cliffhanger so I’m eager to see what happens when the second book begins.

Thank you to the author and RR Book Tours for providing me with a copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

What?! No! Where's the rest?! Nooooooooo! As you can tell, this book ends on a cliffhanger and I need answers. Thanks, Amber and RR Booktours for the ARC!

This book was comforting in a way that there weren't a lot of surprises. Boy and Girl are royalty, they're put in an arranged marriage, they're not happy, but they start to fall for each other when they have to act like everything is great as they're doing public events. Really when we start to get into the meat of the story is where it gets unique and what is causing me to need the next book last week.

Unique parts of this story:
FMC is Fae, MMC is a vampire. Their families hate each other because of choices made by their ancestors forever ago
They are forced to be married, or they'll die
There is a lot of investigating/detective work because of an event that happens that brings Calia and Rion more together
There are a lot of interesting reveals in the end that hints that there have been memories somehow removed

Definitely a fun read for those who are looking for a hot, broody vampire and a fae that doesn't want to put up with crap, and loves a good mystery.

Spice: 🌶️🌶️.5

This book was dark, sexy, and mysterious. It has everything you need in a vampire fae forced-marriage romance story.

Calia Darrow and Rion D’Arcy are part of two separate lineages of fae and vampire that are forced to marry due to a curse placed on their families long ago. After she marries, Calia must say goodbye to her fae family and way of life and move into D’Arcy family mansion. Rion is a well-known bachelor who has a different girl each day of the week. He is less than pleased to be marrying Calia and seems to be intent on keeping his paramours on after their nuptials…

After several events targeting the couple, the two realize that there may be someone outside their families that hates their union even more. They have to find out who is making these attempts on their lives before one lands successfully…

The Night Runs Red was such a captivating read, and I can not wait to hear more about Rion and Calia in the next book. Their enemies to lover story was oh so spicy! The family dynamics and politics were also interesting as we learn more of the truth about the Darrow and D’Arcy families and why they operate the way they do. The ending absolutely killed me, so do be prepared for the cliffhanger! I have so many questions and need book 2 immediately!

Ahhh that ending!! I have no idea what is next in this story. Enemies to lovers. Forced marriage. I’m hoping the next book has more pov from the MMC. Not a lot of spice but it was good.
