I had high expectations for this, since I loved Moxie. This was not the same as Moxie which I loved cause it was so upbeat and kickass! The truth about Alice is quite different and much darker. Its hard to read and annoying at very american. But still, I liked it a lot and my heart aches for Alice. The shit she had to go through, and all alone as well. It sucks. But books like this are so important.

This book got me where I live(d). Alice reminded me a lot of myself at her age and the characters, though stereotypical on the surface, turned out to be real people. I appreciated the fact that there was no social media component to Alice's harassment and no suicide attempt as it would have seemed a little too pat and cheesy. Highly recommended to anyone who likes YA fiction, especially teens themselves.

This book mastered the art of writing in teenagerish ways. It was written in a way I could appreciate. I felt bad for Alice right away. The book did do a great representation on how badly rumors actually do hurt and how fast they get around.

The reason it got downgraded .25 points is the ending.... what a totally, and completely un-satisfying ending for this type of book. The book could honestly have used another 100 pages to tie everything up, or even just an epilogue of sorts. Also, I wish the characters weren’t so stereotypical, because it made it so hard to like/sympathies/relate/understand to the characters.

Quite predictable but very easy to read - got through it in 24 hours and enjoyed it. I wish there was more - some kind of conclusion between Kelsie and Alice, I guess.

was Josh gay?

Alice is a slut!

The high-school rumour-mill is put under the microscope to uncover jealousy, lies, slander and the consequences which escalate out of control.

Told from the perspectives of Elaine, Kelsie, Josh, Kurt and Alice it seems Status, Sex & Booze is at the forefront of most of their minds. These high-school stereotypes — popular, former bff, jock, nerd and beauty are recognisable, their motivations honest yet often cruel, revealing a powerful story that is uncomfortable and very real.
