Great read!

This was such a cute story. Noah and Miranda were very easy to read about and I did not want to put this book down.

Hard Pass was a fun, quick read. It kept my interest and before I knew it, it was over. There were a couple things I wish were different. Since it’s not a college sports romance, but a professional one, I wish the hero and heroine were older, not 24 and 22. It would make more sense, especially with the heroine trying to start a business. I would have liked more background from the heroine. I liked her, but I think she could be a little more fleshed out. I wish the hero was a little more confident. Other than that the hero was legit. I had fun reading this book. I look forward to more.

I voluntarily read an early copy.

I don't believe for a second that this dude is legitimately unattractive. We're told he's ugly through shitty women and the tabloids, but the author clearly wanted the insecurity angst while still describing a generic hot romance lead.

The sex was poorly written and dull. Sex Miranda felt like a different character.

This one just did not work for me.

Adoro i romanzi di Sara Ney, mi sono innamorata del suo stile quando ho iniziato a leggere la serie How to date a douchebag.

Sweetest book ever! Once I was reading it, I couldn't stop. Hard Pass is the perfect book if you are looking for an imperfect hero, a very sweet love story, but with quite a bit of steam too.

Sara Ney is one of my favourite romance authors and for me the best sports romance one. I was so excited that she was releasing a new sports series and I was not disappointed. She uses the same style as in her other books, sweet characters, amazing sense of humour and low drama (my FAVOURITE). I always judge how good a book is by how ashamed I am of the highlights I made on my kindle... and I am very very ashamed! Buzz, one of Noah's teammate, adds the perfect dirty jokes to the book and makes it more than a sweet love story.

Novels with imperfect and shy heroes are always my most-liked stories. Sara has already a couple of them in her previous series (Rhett Rabideaux *swoon*) but Noah is quite different from what we've already seen. He is very sensitive and shy, he doesn't have a lot of confidence, even less around women, and has lived quite a handful of bad experiences. He is not the typical jock and that's what I loved the most about him.

I didn't give Hard Pass five stars because this book is way too short. With only 200 pages, I feel like we don't know much about Noah and Miranda, I'd have loved to know more about their pasts or just to have more scenes of the two of them together. This book is also not as focused on the sport aspect as in her other series, but it is still quite a main subject in the book. I feel like it's such a shame because I adored Noah and Hard Pass could have easily become one of my favourite Sara Ney books. I would love to get at least a novella about them, because they were truly the sweetest.

So, if you are looking for a quick read, very swoon-worthy, but also funny, go check out Hard Pass by Sara Ney.

This is my first foray with Sara Ney- but I can tell it won’t be my last! This was a cute, heartfelt read with rich characterization, tons of humor, and limited drama that kept my heart happy and the pages turning.

I love it when authors flip tropes on their heads, and here Sara delivers a different kind of romance hero. Sure, Noah is a professional athlete, but he’s insecure about his looks, awkward, shy, and jaded. Noah finds himself in a text-meet-cute situation with a woman over some baseball cards- delightful witty banter ensues and eventually this relationship extends outside of text, raising Noah’s insecurities to a heightened level. And, this adorable, not-too-heavy and humorous love story ensues. Less-cute/awkward guy gets hot girl? That’s a change! I’m here for it.

I really loved the narrative structure Ney uses to evolve this relationship- what a masterful use of dialogue. I loved the flipping of the trope- and I did enjoy Noah, mostly. I related to his insecurities, he’s a wonderful guy at heart, and he’s respectful, considerate, and kind- dreamboaty stuffy. He’s insecurities certainly get grating though, frustrating at times- but that is the point, right? How debilitating they are. I just wanted to see a bit more evolution from him- but he’s just charming despite that. And, I loved Miranda- sassy and sweet. I love how focused she is- determined and opinionated. I love how she was really the driver of this relationship, the “alpha” if you will- and their banter was cute. I wanted to sit in their happy a bit more at the end after the road bumps, but overall, we got a great story.

As a Ney newcomer, I found her story telling to be quite skilled- the book flowed fluidly, the dialogue was clever and fresh laden with humor and charm, and the characters are richly developed, interesting, and uniquely drawn. I’m not normally a huge “sports romance” avid reader, but I enjoyed this book and I think Ney has a talented and unique voice- looking forward to reading more from her!

I like that the main issue in this book is that he thinks he's ugly.

Not her. No no no. She's not the insecure one, he is! Honestly the role switch from the traditional stereotypes is not only refreshing but hilarious and oddly wholesome.

Sure when people on the internet are calling her ugly she's hurt a little...hurt that there's so many blind people in the world who can't see her BEAUTEA.

It's just so funny to imagine people problems like this.

Trash but trash we can enjoy together as a society.
