This book.. Was fine, I didn't love it.. I didn't hate it, it was fine.

The twelve days of dash and lily follows on from "dash and lily's book of dares" (which I have to say I did enjoy a lot more than this one) basically following dash and lily and their time around Christmas a year after they got together. I admit it was a nice fluffy read for the Christmas period, however I found myself just getting bored too often and growing extremely tired of dash and lily's relationship, it just seemed so immature and tedious, the constant grand gestures were too much and the paranoia radiating from both characters was just too much.

The Christmas spirit definitely saved this book for me, could there have been more excitement? Hell yeah, but who doesn't love a bit of Christmas?

I found myself really not liking many characters in this book, Langston bugged me for the first half of the book before I noticed myself growing fonder of him as time went on, boomer was so unconvincing stupid, the fact that he's an idiot didn't annoy me, but reading it, it all just felt so fake, and that is what frustrated me, although he did have me chuckling at times I'll give him credit where credit is due! All of the parents seem to just be the absolute worst (do rachel cohn and David leviathan just have a hatred towards parents or is that just me?) like they're never there or around for their kids and they just don't seem to care!

And lastly I found myself struggling to keep up and understand most of what had been written, I mean call me stupid but I just wanted a quick, easy, fluffy, romantic, christmas read and it just took me way too long to get through , I felt like I was forcing myself to keep on reading rather than wanting too.
P. S now my brain hurts

Pretty good, nothing monumental happens that I can remember but it's still solid and a nice read around the holiday season especially this year, I could relate to Lily not feeling in the Christmas spirit.

Adorable, Christmassy and all in all, a really enjoyable read.

Dash & Lily's Book of Dares is one of my favourite contemporaries, so I was both extremely excited and slightly apprehensive when I heard it was getting a sequel. This wasn't what I was expecting from a Dash and Lily sequel, it wasn't all sparkles and Christmas magic and honestly, I loved that. I really appreciated that this focused on a side of the holiday season that often gets brushed over, the fact that for a lot of people, it's extremely difficult, emotionally and physically. I really appreciated that we got to see Lily, someone known for her pure love for Christmas, not knowing how to be happy or magically forget all her troubles simply because of the festive season. This so easily could have been a story about someone who was sad, 'getting over it' because of Christmas, but it wasn't and I really appreciated that about it. It still has its adorable Dash and Lily moments and it still gave me all the Christmassy feels but it was also a lot more than that. Book of Dares is still one of my favourites and I do think I prefer it slightly over this one but to me, they're different books. One that delivers all of my Christmas (and essentially life) goals and dreams through its pages, and another that resonated with me in other ways and gave me something I needed to read at exactly the right time. They both now have a sentimental value to them and I'm sure I will continue to read them for many holiday seasons to come.

It was an alright book definitely not as good as the first. Still pretty funny though. I just thought it was kinda slow even though there were still cute and sweet spots. This was a quick and easy read.

Very cute. The blurb made me think the book was very different though...

Okay, picture this: Dash & Lily but the things don't work out as perfectly = the sequel. This sequel was cute and maybe a tad more realistic because all the bright and cheery holiday-ness of the last one is also mingled with depression and apprehension. Lily's beloved grandfather suffered a heart attack and a fall that has severely altered her Christmas yet again. Overwhelmed by playing caretaker and her parent's maybe-once-again-impending-move, Lily's once exuberant holiday cheer is a bit muffled this year only to be brought out again through Dash's valiant efforts. Enter multiple over-the-top events that must cost way too much money and time to be realistic and yet the book still ends with contented sighs of lessons learned and family togetherness.

As a nonchalant holiday read, this hits the spot and makes me excited that Netflix could do another season of Dash & Lily for next holiday season. However, the constant downtrodden > exuberant drive of this book was overwhelming. Lily has grown up a bit which is a relief but still has shrieky fits (oh, and has asked her family to drop the Lily-Bear nickname which is also a relief). Dash has become fully integrated in Lily's family and come to terms with his own feelings. Overall, cute but with a dash of did-we-really-need-this-sequel. I didn't hate reading it though and it did make me gasp in laughter and horror at points (that skating accident! Really!?). Of course I will read the next one, light fluff is fun sometimes.
