It was just not to my taste, beautiful watercolors and lovely message, but difficult to engage kids in.

Beautiful book. I love Dolly’s song and the message it sends. The book is the song with illustrations. Well done.

I had never read this book and can't believe it took me this long to discover it. There is so many wonderful colors in here, also in the personality of the little girl at the center of this novel. Dolly really made a great childrens' book with this one, that my daughter and I truly adored.

There was a great story in here, and what it means to be grateful for what one has, without the need for envy or being petty to get more joy in one's life. Dolly brings her story to life in here and makes one full of emotions as the story progresses, without stop. Her family, and those memories of hers, are a beautiful treat.

My daughter really felt for Dolly when the bullies began to mentally attack her. But, a smile filled her face as we were shown that they don't damper her day for too long. And that's what I loved the most, that she perseveres and continues to be herself, even through the hardships and struggles that Dolly lived through. Making this one great read for any family to read together.

This book was so great, I started crying reading it to my daughters. What a powerful & empowering story. We listened to the song and turned through the pages a second time through and it matches exactly- I figured there’d be extra choruses or something but there weren’t. I love the illustrations and the message- she loved her coat because her mom sewed love with every stitch, and you have the power to feel as rich as you want. Beautiful. I admire Dolly Parton for so many reasons, and now this is one reason more.

This story illustrates one of Parton’s popular songs. A little girl’s mother sews her a coat out of rags when winter arrives and she can’t afford to buy one. When she goes to school and her classmates laugh at her, she explains to them what it means to be rich.
