First I'd like to thank Net Galley & WW Crown for the ARC now...

UGH It pains me so much to give this one a 2 star! I LOVE Sarah Ready books and would you just LOOK at that cover?! I really did like the characters in this book but the overall story just did not do it for me this time. I mean I do realize with a title like Ghosted -and the cover- I should expect a ghost however the ghost sex pushed me over the edge real fast. I don't think this one recovered after that for me, I was done. It's also a pretty long story and I found myself wishing that it would just hurry up already. Oh well I guess everybody has a dud every once in a while. That will not deter me from grabbing this author immediately when a new release hits the shelves!

I DNF at 17%. I am truly baffled by all of these positive reviews. It’s simultaneously too wordy and not wordy enough - I just keep thinking “we skipped about 80,000 steps here.”

Life’s too short to put myself through this. I’m curious about Daniel’s situation, but not curious enough to suffer/slog through this.

Ghosted is a whole new take on the ghost romance in Ghosted. How can you not want to pick up a story about a half naked ghost romance? Was he a porn-star? Was he a gigolo? What is he doing half-naked here? These are the questions that Jillian is asking when she finds a friendly, six-pack heartthrob ghosting around her new apartment. Her life is a wreck, so why not add a ghost into the mix?

The premise for this book is so amazing. There is wonderful social anxiety representation and it is a deeply emotional story about healing, trauma, personal growth and, yes, romance. I love how this author weaves a story to include so many things, but not make it overbearing. This is such a beautiful romance between two people who are the most unlikely of lovebirds.

At about the halfway point in this book, it becomes a bit stalkerish. I am not sure if it was because I was also reading a thriller about a terrifying stalker at the same time as this one, but I really did not find the stalking cute or romantic. It made me really uncomfortable and I wasn't a huge fan of that part of the story. So if you don't like a love story about someone that is willing to risk it all, and be stalkerish about it., for love, then this is not the book for you.

Even though this is my least favorite by this author that I have read so far, there were so many amazing things in it. It was witty and had some very funny moments, while still being respectful of the loss Jillian had endured and her extreme social anxiety. I will continue to autobuy and recommend anything and everything Sarah Ready

Omigod! I’m in love with sarah ready’s books already and this book was phenomenal. I can say it exceeded my expectations and is one of my favorite reads for 2023! What a beautiful, magical and deeply emotional paranormal love story that will remain in my heart forever! It's about confronting, forgiving and moving forward from your past, dealing with your insecurities and loving the people in your life.

Ghosted was an emotional roller coaster of a ride that had my smiling, laughing and sobbing! I was hooked from the very beginning and could not stop reading! Jillian writes a dating and relationship advice column but oddly struggles with speaking to men in real life. Strangely, she finds herself able to easily communicate with the endearing and hot ghost, Daniel, that appears in her new apartment. Daniel decides to help Jillian find love and overcome her fear of talking to men.

He believes if he can save her from her problem it will help him to move on to the next life. As they spend time together practicing dates and getting to know each other, they develop a deep connection that neither of them can deny. They realize that they could never be fully together because he is a ghost! All of a sudden, Daniel is gone and Jillian is left trying to move on and make sense of it all.

I enjoyed how the characters interacted. Both were likeable and I enjoyed seeing Jillian become more self-confident. She also comes to terms with a painful part of her past and learns to forgive herself. This book does take a little leap of faith as one character is a ghost, but it is so worth it.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Ghosted by Sarah Ready had all the potential for a charming and whimsical romance with a supernatural twist, but it ultimately disappointed me. The premise of a socially awkward dating expert, Jillian, being pursued by a charming ghost, Daniel, was intriguing. However, the execution fell short in several critical ways.

One of the most glaring issues was the lack of attention to detail and basic research. The portrayal of New York City was superficial, lacking authenticity and depth, detracting from the overall experience.

The writing style came across as juvenile, with an overreliance on the word "says" as a dialogue tag and awkward chapter transitions that left me disoriented. The character development left much to be desired. Jillian's quirkiness bordered on instability, and her interactions with others felt contrived. It was challenging to root for a love story when one of the characters seemed so erratic.

The romance between Jillian and Daniel didn't feel genuine. The book's first half was fast-paced and enjoyable, but the second half lost its charm. The plot became predictable, and the story dragged on for far too long, making it feel like it was reaching for a word/page count rather than focusing on storytelling.

Additionally, the book's pacing issues and the main character's behavior made her appear as a stalker for a significant portion of the story. This aspect of the narrative was unsettling and detracted from the supposed romance.

In the end, Ghosted by Sarah Ready had potential, but it failed to deliver its promise. With better research, editing, and character development, this story could have been a delightful romantic comedy. Unfortunately, it fell short of expectations and left me feeling unsatisfied.
