Sally does it again! I was immediately pulled into this story, and I was not surprised when I realized it is a marriage of convenience book. I adore a well-done marriage of convenience book.

I love Evelyn's grit. All the decisions she made that brought her to Arizona, were made with her daughter in mind. She is not afraid to get her hands dirty, and she quickly jumps in and helps around the ranch.

I love how Evelyn and Chris met. I think it shows a lot about the man Chris is. I think they make a great couple. The way they care for each other's children made my heart melt!

Mariah Hussey narrated this book beautifully! I am still amazed at her British accent and cowboy drawl. I look forward to more books narrated by her.

Content Warning:
-Talks of death of family members
-Children grieving the loss of their parents
*This is a clean closed-door historical romance.

I received a free copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I was so excited for this book! Honestly, Sally is one of my favorite authors! I have so enjoyed all the books I have read of hers. After reading Silver Dollar Duke, the first in the Hearts of Arizona series, I was excited for this next one. I always enjoy series where the story continues with the same characters. Lady Evelyn Lyon has lost her husband, fortune and place in England. She hopes that in Arizona, her husband’s stock in Bisbee Copper Queen mine will make a way for her and her daughter to survive. After being failed by every man she has known, she would rather be alone than dependent. However, the fraudulent stock certificates leaves her more alone than ever. Christ Morgan, or Frosty as he is known by all, never expected a family. But when his cousin dies, leaving two children for him to raise, his plans change. When he comes upon an English woman alone, he is determined to help. Can their problems be solved together? Through a marriage of convenience, they may find their solution and possibly love…

This was super cute! First of all, I love stories with kids. I think that they give romances a new depth, with other relationships to build and connections to be had. The kids in this story make it so much sweeter, they are a key part of what brings Frosty and Evelyn together and I think it is adorable! It was so cute to read about how they became a family together.
I was so excited that this book was about Frosty! He seemed like such a nice character and I enjoyed learning more about him. He was so sweet! As you read about his adjustment to his new family, it  is incredibly touching to see how hard he is trying to help them. He has no idea how to help children, but is doing his best. Evelyn was such an admirable character too.  She had gone through a lot of tragedy and was determined to take care of herself and her daughter. Finding herself in the Arizona desert with few options was not part of her plan.I enjoyed watching her adjusting to the ranching life. It was definitely a fish-out-of-water story, with funny and tender moments coming from it. I loved how she connected to the ladies of the ranch.  She and Madeline, her daughter, really found a family there. It was also so adorable to see the continuation of the background stories at the ranch too!
Overall, this was a sweet western story in the series. Though it can be read as a stand-alone, it is so much better to read it as part of a series! It is clean, but has some mention of domestic abuse. I would probably recommend it to teens and up!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.

4.5 stars. I enjoyed this slow burn marriage of convenience romance. The pace is just right for both the developing love story between Chris and Evelyn and the external plot. I especially love the found family dynamic for all involved, especially the three children and the realities of everyday ranching life for both the cowboys and their wives. The narrator did a great job. I didn't want to stop listening.

Ahhh this book was so cute! I listened to the audiobook, and it was marvelous. The narrator was also so good, using different accents and tones for the different characters that was subtle enough to not be annoying.

Now to the plot!
Countess Eveline, widowed for a second time, finds herself penniless and stranded in Arizona territory with her little girl. There, she meets a kindly cowboy named Chris “Frosty” Morgan whose boss insists that Eveline return to the ranch with him, his wife, and Frosty.

There, Eveline discovers that everything she thought about the world may, in fact, be wrong. Kind people, hard—but satisfying—work, and a place where she’s seeing her little girl happy for the first time...is it all too good to be true?

This story man. I love a good marriage of convenience, and this one hit the nail on the head. Frosty is about the sweetest fictional man I’ve ever read. He’s gentle and so sweet to Evie, who has suffered horrible abuse by her first two husbands. He was probably my favorite part of this story. I also loved his relationship with the Bolton’s and the other ranglers. He’s a softy with his cousin’s kiddos too.

Everything about this story was beautiful and I think it’ll definitely be a comfort listen from now on!

Loved this sweet historical romance. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a wonderful job bringing the story to life. It’s like a mashup of western and Victorian. I love Sally’s books, she is a great author! Can’t wait for the next in the series.

I’m not a regular reader of Western Romances, but I read them now and then, and if there’s an author that can entice me to give one a go, it’s Sally Britton. I loved Silver Dollar Duke, and this second book in the series did not disappoint. I couldn’t stop listening to the audiobook. On the outside, the premise of a Countess finding herself in cowboy Arizona, seems a little far-fetched, but the backstory sells it to the reader. In the end it’s a marriage of convenience story, but there’s plenty of lead up to it. I particularly appreciated how the decision to marry was thoughtful and not instant or contrived. Another aspect that really stuck out to me was the way that the characters actually talked to each other, when the time was right, about their feelings and important decisions that needed to be made. I think that’s more how real people would deal with it, instead of the tortured back and forth of unexpressed emotions and making decisions for people while just assuming what’s best for them. Kim not a fan of that method of drawing out tension in romances.

I listened to this one in audiobook format. As far as the narration, I thought it was well done. The narrator did a good job with subtle differences in the voices and accents for different characters. It was occasionally inconsistent…I found it most noticeable with Duke’s accent…but overall, well done. I noticed a couple errors, most likely editing errors from the book, but they were minuscule.

I definitely recommend this as a book and an audiobook. You’ll get the most out of it if you read/listen to the first book in the series first, but there’s enough explanation to carry a reader through a standalone reading.
