Loved it

Clean, fun, redemptive, and coming to an understanding of what love is about. I loved this story (whole series) and how you get to know a better side of people.
Running with Captain Avery is not what Lucia wants to do when she is running for her life, but its the best option. As their adventure continues it becomes clear that in literal life or death moment you come to know your heart better.

This was an exciting fantasy with a well-built world, lots of heat and romance, a fast pace and high stakes, and - did I mention the heated romance?

As a sequel to [b:Moss Forest Orchid|34373490|Moss Forest Orchid (Silver and Orchids, #1)|Shari L. Tapscott|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1487766909l/34373490._SY75_.jpg|55457725], this book didn’t disappoint.

Recommended to fans of very heated, somewhat-suggestive-but-still-clean fantasy romances.

Content:
Romance:
A lot of the book's conflict revolves around Lucia's two lovers, both competing for her attention, who both hate each other. Innuendo. Men and women admiring each others' bodies. Many kisses, near kisses and thinking about kisses. Lots of heat. There are scenes with revealing clothing, and shirtless men. And quite a few heated kisses while in that state.
SpoilerA couple of scenes with Avery and Lucia very close together, with heated kisses, and fingers each others' waists and backs. Avery and Lucia are married in a foreign language, and royally escorted to their bedroom. Where they lie in bed together. Lucia is asked in pantomime if Avery is an eunuch.

Violence:
There are deaths, many deadly monsters, and lots of danger and near-death scenes.

Happy with where the story is going with the love interest. Love the humor in this book

I don't like the way people treat Lucia. Yes she can be naive and impulsive but that doesn't give anyone (her family, Sebastian, etc) the right to treat her the way they do.

Also, if Sebastian really cared, he would choose Lucia over his status. He always has trouble admitting his feelings but will flirt with her and lead her on anyway. His grandfather is awful but Sebastian is a coward.

Muuuuch better. Writing had overall improved and the obnoxious character is basically benched for the book. The descriptions of the fantasy elements have improved. I also feel like the main character really became more real in the book! I'm ooking forward to reading the next one.

Eeek!! I loved this novel! The characters, the writing, the action, the romance—it’s all so perfect. I can’t wait to dive into the next novel.

While this book did set the plot off very well, I really think Lucia can be utterly daft. She makes a ton of impulsive decisions that end up creating a lot of confusion. Also, I appreciate the small details thrown in about Avery here - he actually is somewhat of a decent guy - but I'm still not satisfied with his explanation about him and Lucia. Their relationship is never clear; it's always very muddled and filled with descriptions of how pretty Avery is. While that's undoubtedly true, romance isn't built on that alone.

Again, like I said, the plot was excellent, even if the romance left me rolling my eyes (and also blushing a lot - this is still clean of course, but if you only like chaste kisses or whatnot, you might wanna skip this). Avery and Lucia have to atone for the orchids, keep the king off their trail, keep Sebastian and Adeline safe via a fake engagement, and find something even more rare than the orchids to keep the duke happy. It was definitely a fun adventure with some cool, magical moments.

I do want to read the next one to find out more about Avery, but this book firmly changed my mind about Lucia, so be forewarned.
