A Very Klingon Khristmas by Patrick Faricy, Paul Ruditis

While the story is adorable and so very star trek, what really won me over was the illustration. In a very Norman Rockwell style the artwork is so classic Christmas book that it takes a second to realize that, nope, that is a Klingon in that picture. A great twist on the average Christmas story book that will now become one of my holiday traditions.

A short funny silly read, trek style.

I bought this on a nerdy whim and read it to two small children who had no idea what Star Trek or what Klingons were - they listened all the way through, although of course the context was entirely missing for them. A year later, one of those children was eager to hear this one again although, again, their knowledge of Star Trek is close to zero. Despite this, they were even more engaged with the text: perhaps they found a Christmas tale with the unusual undertones of violence and sci-fi (children being gifted Klingon weapons, the sleigh is drawn by space ships etc..) to be a fun addition to our Christmas library.

My husband is a huge Star Trek nerd and I'm a big fan of nerdy kids books. This book combines the two, weaving an amusing tale of the way Klingons celebrate Khristmas. We're going to buy a copy for our son's collection, as I cannot imagine anything cuter than reading our son a Klingon story during the holidays.

Quite the unique and funny Christmas story. Star Trek fans would really get a kick out of this.

This absolutely FLAWLESS book had me in stitches from page one. Told in the style of "Twas the Night Before Christmas," this quick little book explains all we Humans need to know about the Klingon holiday. Which, by the way, we totally stole, just like their Shakespeare. (taH pagh taHbe'!) Other items of note:

- While good little boys and girls receive shiny knives and daggers, honorless Klingon children might find nasty Tribbles in their stockings.

- The Klingon version of Santa is drawn in his sleigh by eight Birds-of-Prey. He often adds a ninth, which clears the way with its bright red nose disrupter beams.

- Untangling lights is one of the 12 Pains of Christmas for Klingons as well as Humans. Make sure to have a warm cup of mulled Blood Wine to calm everyone down.

- Khristmas is a good day for pie. (Probably prune pie, but pie nonetheless.)
