I LOVE THIS BOOK!!

This novel is a superb discovery. I devoured it from beginning to end. The further I read, the more intrigued I became. The plot was captivating and the ending was truly astonishing. I like the style of writing, which consists of dual point of view. Naturally, I can't wait to read the next novel. I can't wait to see what happens next for Vane and Audra.

Seventeen-year-old Vane Weston has no idea how he survived the category five tornado that killed his parents. And he has no idea if the beautiful, dark-haired girl who’s swept through his dreams every night since the storm is real. But he hopes she is.

Pro’s/Con’s
No con for this book from me, only pro's.
The first thing that I loved was the writing style by Shannon Messenger. It reads away very pleasantly without making it dull or easy. It's fun to switch from Vane the human/sylph to Audra the sylph and read about what they think, how they feel and especially why.
The second thing that I love is the fantasy elements. It is original and things happened in this book that I was expecting and things that I was totally not expecting at all! This made it a great read to me, it surprised me and had me on the edge of my chair at least once every chapter. Overall a great combination of these two.
And, do you remember those characters that react to supernatural things in a totally non-realistic way? Vane doesn't do this, not any character in this book does that! They all react very realistic to the things happening to them and the way that they feel about it makes is seem as if they could be your neighbor.

Recommend it?
Yes, yes you should read this. It's a really good read and I enjoyed reading it a lot. I read a lot of Young Adult and Fantasy stuff and this was a really nice combination and I'm very much looking forward to the next installment. Shannon Messenger, you got yourself a brand new fan.

I would have loved this had I read this a few years ago but now it just feels too cliche. That I couldn’t connect to most of the characters. I will most likely try this book again to continue on in the series but for now I’m ok with just the first book.
I love her other series way more than this one and I’m glad I can still hold on to my love for that one.
I’m SUPER EXCITED FOR LEGACY’S RELEASE DAY. I HAVE IT ON PREORDER.

The book itself wasn’t great quality-wise (tone was too casual and Vane too romantic), but otherwise it kept me engaged and entertained me! There were definitely some mildly funny parts as well.

3.25 stars. Read for the Quarterly Book Club Jan-Mar 2015.

I read this one for the Quarterly Book Club first quarter, and considering it has been on my radar for a while, and I enjoyed Messenger’s middle grade book ‘Keeper of the Lost Cities’, I was hoping that this one would be enjoyable. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a stand-out read for me. It was painfully slow to get through, in part because not very much happens for the majority of the book. The characters were bland, the plot was predictable and it had none of the charm of Messenger’s middle grade writing. Pretty mediocre overall, I don’t think I will be picking up the sequel.
