The first volume of White Sand is both a hit and a miss for me. Kenton is very easy to root for, and the visuals for sand mastery can be quite striking. The way the story is told, however, can feel a bit off at times. Scenes sometimes feel abrupt in starting and finishing. Yet among all the confusion, I think this volume still holds its own in a weird, disjointed way. And I appreciate what Brandon was trying to go for here, as I am quite interested in the story he is trying to tell, wanting to further my knowledge of Dayside and on whatever comes next in the next volume (looking at you, cliffhanger...)

This is the last Cosmere related book I read and realised that this is where it all really starts. This book has that one character Kriss who is telling all these stories. Perfect book really.

Not much happened in this volume. it was setting us up for the future volumes so that was fine.the world was very interesting but i was confused sometimes with the people ethnicities cause some people looked mixed but they weren't??? i don't know.

There is so much going on in every page (really detailed pictures and really long dialogues) so it was really like reading a novel with pictures which is why i needed to take breaks when i was reading it. it was basically a lot to take in.

I enjoyed it and will be continue on

I'm so happy. I loved this and I want more. I'll admit, I'm generally prejudiced in favor of Sanderson's work, but I don't think that's a bad thing because his work basically is that good.

So, this had everything I want from a Sanderson story - complex magic, good characters, a rich story, a large world. Because of the format, it isn't the same as reading a Sanderson novel, but so much of it feels like his work, and it is fairly text heavy which isn't always a good thing, but in this case I liked it.

There was obviously a good team of people that made thjs happen. The art is good and complements the story well. There are a few details and moments that are abrupt or feel under-explained, but that's a minor issue in the end. I have no real complaints and now I have to wait for book 2.
