If you like Jenny Colgan, this will not disappoint (tho I totally wanted to hear more about the exes!) I found the treatment of death in this book really moving but it does take up a few chapters.

In Sunrise by the Sea, Jenny Colgan beautifully addresses serious issues such as grief, depression, and anxiety while still producing a book with a light tone. In this installment of the Little Beach Street Bakery series, Marisa lands on Mount Polbearne broken and weary. Slowly, though, she begins to embrace life again with the help of the community. Read if you enjoy: Cornwall, women's fiction, books that address heavy issues with a light touch

Another win from my fave, Jenny Colgan. I loved going back to Beach Street and the community here, with Polly, Huckle, and of course Neil 🐧. I really liked Marisa, loved her relationship with her Nonna, and found Alexei to be endearing. Reading the author’s note made me connect with this story even more. At first glance, Marisa’s story was very reminiscent to one of the storylines in 500 Miles From You, but as it went on, this one distinguished itself as being quite different from her other books while still feeling as comfortable and enjoyable as her books are for me. As always, I love her writing style and the way she draws you in to a community.

Read any of Jenny Colgan’s books and you will find yourself sucked into the stunning scenery and loveable characters. The most important subject of this book is getting back from a depression and anxiety and learning how to deal with it, without giving up life.
As someone who has been dealing with depression and anxiety I felt the way Marisa was feeling. The most magical thing of all happened with every page I read of Marisa’s story, I felt my own weight getting lighter and lighter. I myself was starting to feel hopeful as Marisa was feeling more hopeful. The romance in this book was cute, believable and heart warming, but to me the path Marisa followed on the road to healing was the highlight of this book.
