I recently found this author and I'm excited to dive into her books. This one was hot and a great full story. With it being an insta-love story I didn't feel like I was cheated out of anything. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

I keep going back and forth on this short story. It was cute and short and sweet, but it was missing quite a lot.

It starts a day before Grier turns 18...and Slate is 23. I know shifters and mating and all that nonsense are used for a bit, but this one didn't do it for me. Slate is fond of Grier, but upon midnight of her turning 18, a flip switches and he suddenly knows she's his mate. I get that it was to dance around legalities and all that, but I've read that a few times and this particular take on it isn't my favorite.

Another thing is that it's very unbelievable? I know, I know, it's shifters and fantasy and mating, but Grier is supposed to be human, she climbs up a tree to escape Slate, she falls asleep in said tree, then spends the ENTIRE next day in the tree. Just sitting there, eating granola bars.
I'm sorry. And entire night and day sitting on the same branch? And she's not in any pain? She's not hurting? She could sleep and not fall out of it but also be well rested even though she's IN A TREE??

She has no water up there, only a granola bar, and she spends an entire night and day in there and only comes down because the 'mating moon' has made her incredibly horny.

I would have enjoyed this book (at least found it cute) if they just didn't have any details.

I’m not a huge shifter book reader but I’ve read a few and this one was good. I wouldn’t stay it’s my favorite but it was good. I almost felt like it was too rushed and as a 200 page book it would have been better. I did love the characters though. I just didn’t feel like we got to know them all that great. It went from “I hope I find a mate soon” to *sniff sniff* there she is and it’s the same girl from the beginning of the book who he did seemed like he liked but not THAT much. Maybe that’s how these books go. I’ll be reading more to find out. My husband is a huge shifter reader so he’s reading it next and going to tell me if my rating is fair.

Es un libro súper corto, que lees en menos de una hora, es súper rápido y fácil de leer.

Te advierto que todo sucede de manera rápida, por la cuestión de que es un libro con apenas 68 páginas, así que te puedes dar un idea.

Frase:
—No quiero seguir viviendo aquí. No quiero estar aquí cuando nadie parece quererme. No soy una de ustedes y nunca he podido olvidarlo. Sólo quiero sentir que pertenezco, que soy querido. Sólo una vez.-

Datos:
Es el primer libro de una saga.
Contiene escenas spicy

Slate is a shifter and alpha of the Ash Mountain Pack. Grier is a human who was adopted by a shifter couple who are part of the Ash Mountain Pack after her parents abandoned her. Grier feels unwanted by the pack even after she finds herself the fated mate of the Alpha. Will their love be enough to convince Grier to stay a part of the pack or will she decide it is time for her to leave?
Another great book from Skye Alder! I was so captured by the story that I read this book in basically one sitting. If you love short and steamy shifter stories you definitely need to check out Skye!
