Genuinely can’t be arsed. At least Jane Eyre threw in random dramatics.

After almost a year i finally finished this book. I was silly enough to leave it unfinished for so long, only because it was a bit slow -paced and Jane Austen's writting is a bit difficult to follow. But after i passed the middle, i was hooked for good. There are no words to describe how much i loved this book.

Apart from Lizzy, which i admired for the strength of her character, i was disgusted with the rest of her family. (I even disliked Jane, a boring, cold as ice, constipated woman). As for Mr. Darcy what is there to say? He's simply dreamy, some of his lines are to die for.

I think Jane Austen and authors like her are to be blamed, for making us fall under the illusion that there are men out there like Mr.Darcy. Nuff said, amazing book!!!

I made a resolution to read more classics this year and I fear I chose too well with this first one. How was this published in 1813?! I flew through the latter half today and yesterday and am left feeling seen and satisfied. 110% recommend …and there are so many details the movie left out.

It holds up! It was a much more fun read than I was expecting, and the older style of language was fairly easy to adapt to. I definitely liked it more for Austen's ironic and playful writing rather than the plot - I know some people love the romanticism of the book, but that didn't really do it for me (then again, I'm not much of a romance reader to begin with). It was fun to watch the romance play out, but more because it was fun to pick up on the subtle jokes Austen plays on them as the plot unfolds rather than because the romance itself was exciting.

I imagine I would've liked the book less had I not read it for class and gotten some insights for key things to look for from my professor, though you never know. I'd say if you're looking for a classic to read, this is a good choice - much more fun, light, and accessible (language-wise) than other classics, I'd imagine.

I liked Emma so much that I almost immediately decided to re-read Pride and Prejudice 7 years after I first read P&P. And then I immediately watched all six hours of the Colin Firth BBC miniseries for the first time.

And I've gotta say y'all.... I think I like Emma > P&P. It's funnier, snappier, quicker, and I like that personal growth and female friendship are the central themes of Emma.

But they're both wonderful of course.
