Liked it and read it daily...but in the end the ending just wasn't enough for me. I wanted more info about what happened to Charles. And (spoiler) I thought the sentencing for the crime was RIDICUlOUS. First 2/3 of the book was good, but Jenna what happened at the end?

I really liked this book, it was a great vacation read and reminded me a lot of Twister only with some added mental health issues thrown in for flavor!

I picked this book up at the dollar store (because I was curious about the type of books they sold at the dollar store) and I honestly expected this book to be terrible. I mean, why else would it be at the dollar store? And for the first two chapters The Stormchasers stayed true to my expectations. The writing was choppy and simple. But please don't let this stop you from reading this.

I was surprised when the main character set off on her journey because it became a beautiful read. The main character was very well developed and the landscape, even though I was just reading it, was breathtaking. Part of the reason I chose this book was because of the subject of tornadoes and stormchasing, subjects that fascinate me, and I am pleased to say that these they were captured and used expertly in the writing; they were transformed into more than a natural disaster in a truly unique way.

Blum even flashes back to the past for a chunk of the book in the middle, a smooth transition that allows the reader to delve deeper into the minds and history of the complex and captivating twin siblings that are featured in this book.

It's a great fictional work that gives new perspective on mental illness, which the main character's twin brother struggles with. Blum is a master at describing the unstoppable force of some of humanities beautiful tragedies.

Found this book in a little library and as I read a book by Blum before it was a pretty safe pick.
I watched the movie Twister back when it was released and had a hard time believing people actually volunteered to chase storms. It is scary! Reading about it in this book with those images in mind made it easy to visualize parts of the story.
I really liked the approach on the bipolar problem of Charles. There was the struggle of the people around hum, their feelings, anger and sadness. Making it that those feelings are legit when you are dealing with a situation like that. But also acknowledging how difficult it is for Charles, realizing what is happening and not being able to do much about it. There is this scene where Karena is telling him what he sees is not real with him replying that for him it is real. That touched me.
I am not sure what to make of the characters though. Karena is decent but not easy to connect to. She is a very panicky, hasty character and I just did not feel it. Charles is as expected but we do not get enough of his story to really connect. Same with Kevin. Obviously the book is story driven but I would have liked a little more connection to the characters.

I want to like this book, but halfway through, I'm doing a lot of skimming and eye-rolling.

Read this a few months ago and forgot to move it to my 'read' list! My favorite Jenna Blum book is still her was Those Who Save Us, but this one was also good (especially reading about Minnesota.)

Heerlijk boek! Het verhaal van de tweeling beet echt in mijn been, ik had het nog het liefst van al in één keer uitgelezen. Spannend, met hier en daar een wending die ik niet zag aankomen - al kan dat ook aan mij liggen natuurlijk.

Not nearly as good as Those Who Save Us. Interesting look into the world of bi-polar and family who take care of them.

Decent book, but not my favorite by her. Didn't flow as well as her others.
