I mean, it has good stuff, but... it's SO LONG. If the "filler" was cut and the good stuff was condensed into, say, half the length, (or a third?

Peter Hamilton never disappoints. One of the best written so far. Just enough to tie this book to the previous ones, but enough new characters and worlds to make it stand on its own. Loved it!

Decent page turner if a little convoluted at times.

3.5 overall for the two Chronicle of the fallers books. I think you need to have read the first, the abyss beyond dreams, to really enjoy this second one. Probably not essential but there is a fair overlap and I’d recommend you read that one first.

I’ve not read any of the other commonwealth books and wasn’t confused so you don’t need to have read any others to follow this one

Hammy landed this beast of a plane with expert precision. I was a little worried after Abyss but this book takes everything from before and throws it into a tight plot with great characters and gives an ending that the previous 6 monster sized Commonwealth books deserved.

It's so refreshing to dip back into the Commonwealth Saga. When we last saw our heroes they'd been expelled from The Void into deepest darkest space. This story starts a few hundred years after their Great Transition and tells the story of the paranoid population of Bienvenido and its war with the aliens known as The Fallers.

It's so much fun. Part space opera, part political thriller. With lots of old characters going right back to the original Commonwealth books. Even The Prime get a look-in.

It's hard to imagine where The Commonwealth Saga can go from here but I'm sure PFH is up to the task. Truly entertaining. If you've read the others then this one is mandatory.

Perfect wrapping up of the commonwealth and Void series. I know that Hamilton is moving on to another universe and I'll be following him there as well.
