5 Second look at The British Knight by Louise Bay
A Quick Summary

-Violet is new to London, and on her first day of her job, a stranger bumps her, making her drop her phone in the tube. He helps her find her way to her office, to find that he is her new boss.
-Alex is not easy to work with or for, but his office and his accounting needs help. Violet to the rescue. -She’s been tasked with getting him up-to-date.
-Violet shows Alex how to relax and let go of work, but as the months pass, he must find a way to let Violet know what she means to him.

My Take on the Book :
I liked it. Elements of the story are new and fresh. I didn’t expect the ending. Alex really does change a lot over the course of the story.

My Review of The British Knight by Louise Bay
Let's Talk About the Girl...
Violet has been hurt, badly. That betrayal has left her in a kind of half-life. Years later, she works as a waitress going nowhere. Temporary is key in her life. Temp work. Temp men. Until she decides to go to London and change up her life.

She takes a job as an office clerk at a law office.
It’s temporary, but she is okay with that. By the end of her 3-month contract, she hopes to find something that’s been lost to her for a long time, herself.

Let's Talk About the Guy...
Alex is a workaholic. He has his father’s reputation to compete with. His goals are brutal. He refuses to be distracted by anything else. Nothing else matters but living up to his great father’s reputation. Everyone talks about it. Everyone knows about it. He does everything himself. So what if files pile like skyscrapers in a cityscape around his office? So what if he hasn’t sent his billable hours to the accounting department in months? He has work to do.

Let's Talk about the Story...
Violet’s job is Alex–or more realistically, getting Alex to let her do things. She likes him, but Alex is prickly and gruff. She pops in, steals files and hopes to stay out of his way. Alex has made it clear, she is not wanted in his life. He is too busy to deal with his attraction to this woman that smells like lavender and reminds him of his summer in India.

As the weeks pass, files disappear, billing gets updated, and their attraction grows. One day a fling is ignited and they begin to spend more and more time together. Violet begins to show him how to relax. He doesn’t let his fling with Violet keep him from work, but he does take more time to get to know her and spend time with her.

But this fling can’t last, Violet’s contract work in up soon and she has to decide what to do next. As Alex starts to fall for her, he thinks he understands what his job and extreme tendencies are worth, but he has no clue…not until he loses Violet.

I liked this audio a lot. I’ve enjoyed all of these so far. The narrators are good and the spice is great. I liked the epilogue in this a lot. It was fitting to the couple.

Are you ready for a fairytale turned on its modern-day head? Look no further than Violet and Alexander’s story! The British Knight is “THE FAIRYTALE” come true; the love story of Violet, a no-nonsense New Yorker, and Alexander, a British wealthy, workaholic barrister. As Violet describes their story, “He was my Knightly in shining armor and our fairytale was as real as it got.”

Violet is one of my all-time favorite Louise Bay heroines (BTW, I love and semi-stalk Louise and have read every one of her books. And while she gave me an ARC of The British Knight, which was very kind, I would have bought it and read it either way). Violet is the epitome of the motto “a rolling stone gathers no moss”: she’s not looking for forever, doesn’t want to get hurt again, and she isn’t taking crap from any one. In short, Violet King is MY KIND OF WOMAN! Here is just a short list of my favorite Violet quotes:

“Men and cocktails were my favorite things to waste time on, and I made sure my day always had plenty of either one or the other.”

“There’s no point in going boyfriend shopping and not trying anything on.”

“I just wanted to come home. At least in New York I could attract cheaters and drink diet Dr. Pepper.”

And Alexander, oh dear lord of all hotness, Alexander! As Violet states, “Knightly was everything every other man had failed to be. Alexander was moody and demanding. He was ill-tempered and mercurial, but he was anything but boring.” Alexander Knightly is simply “delicious.” If you can’t have a book boyfriend crush on someone who says things like “We’re going to [email protected], then drink, then [email protected], then talk. Then we’re going to hit repeat” then why are you even reading romance novels to begin with???

I’ll end my review of The British Knight by stating that while Violet and Alexander’s story isn’t your everyday fairytale, it is the best kind of fairytale, one that could come true. Because ladies, don’t you agree that “if a knight in shining armor shows up, I don’t need to be swept off my feet, but if he wants to take me to dinner and give me a foot rub then I’m not going to say no.”

It was a nice surprise. It’s a modern love story with real situations with a happy ending. I only give it four stars because it didn’t grab me from the beginning.

This series definitely got better with each book!
I don't have many thoughts about this, other than I loved how different the MCs approach to life was, and how they made each other a better person by being together.

Now onto Darcy's book, can't wait for more!
