Delightfully creepy pile of creepiness, well paced and plotted, one of the better horror novels I've read lately.

This book failed to live up to it's description. Based on the synopsis, I was expecting a horror story, and the first half of the book delivered. However, the second half was a major let down and ventured away from the "horror" genre and just went into detail about a failing marriage of the main characters. Two stars is a generous rating.

While I have enjoyed both Underground and The Apartment, I have found that towards the end it always seems to taper off. From the start to the middle it is engaging and certain situations give a visceral reaction but then the ending seems lacking.

Pretty boring book. Good concept, but not well executed. Pretty disappointed in the entire book. Could have been so good! Wouldn't recommend it to others.

This book’s uber-creepy matt black cover with a glistening gold key and inverted Eiffel Tower perfectly encapsulates a gripping tale of grief, paranoia and increasing psychological terror. For me this book was a fantastic ride –akin to watching a moreish Hollywood thriller (I was delighted to learn that Stephen Spielberg had acquired the movie rights).
I loved the ‘Gone Girl-esque’ narrative switching between the two protagonists giving the reader an insight into not only that individual’s interpretation of events but an insight in to an increasingly fractious marriage. This book has a strong supernatural element that won’t appeal to everyone but I found it to be the ultimate in compulsive escapism!

I just didn’t feel the tension or the creeps as much as I would have liked.

This novel barely qualifies as horror. I finished it hoping the slow-building suspense would pay off, but it didn't.

A few 'unsettling' events occur in the apartment, followed by more at home, leading to an underwhelming climax. Unfortunately, I never felt as unsettled as the characters.

It's disappointing because I enjoy the authors' writing style. Without that, it might have ended up on my DNF list.
