The introduction mentions that this book is "Stephen Hawking meets Stephen King" and that's pretty much it. This book is very interesting, witty and, yes, morbid and gruesome. Some of it drones on a bit but I found it entertaining and learned some fun facts to impress people at parties :)

And Then You're Dead provides a quick, easy to read, humorous account of several hypothetical situations that would, ultimately, lead to your death. In this book, Cassidy and Doherty work through scientific explanations of what would happen if you did stupid things, what would happen if you somehow overcame current scientific limits via enhanced technology (such as if you had a suit that could protect you from insane radiation levels and atmospheric pressure from entering Jupiter), and what would happen to your body parts post mortem. While Cassidy and Doherty incorporate science in each of the short chapters, the duo's work becomes quite redundant near the end (there are only so many ways people can die, and so many times you can read, essentially, "huge amount of pressure will collapse all your internal cavities, leading to unconsciousness in 15 seconds and brain death in 4 minutes..." or something similar to that). Ultimately, this was an entertaining read, it takes only a couple minutes to read a chapter (even with how slow I typically read), yet it becomes quite predictable what the authors will say about halfway through each of the latter chapters.

Was good but a bit repetitive, some facts like that high pressure will form you into a meatball without air inside get mentioned throughout the chapters as if you’ve read it for the first time.
I learned some interesting facts though. There was a guy who was stung 2200 times by honeybees while fleeing from them and another guy stung himself every day for 3 months 5 times by honeybees at different places on his body to test where it would hurt the most. Apparently it’s the inside from your nose and a close second the upper lip followed by the penis.
Also, when you scream at your cold coffee and it’s in perfect thermal isolation, you can enjoy your hot coffee after 1.5 years.

Laugh out loud hilarious and delightful, I kept having to stop and read bits aloud to my boyfriend and sister.

Interesting with lots of dark humor. I feel like I am full of fun facts now like Quick Sand doesn’t actually kill people? I was shook.

Some chapters were more interesting than others. Took me a long time to finish, only because I wouldn't pick it up often. I would reach a couple chapters and then a week later read a couple more. However, that is probably the best way to read this book.
