3.5 stars, which i feel like seems harsher than in reality it is. This book was fine, I liked it overall, its just not the most incredible book I've read. With that being said, there's a few reasons that I was held up on this book at like page (I think) 30 ish for 6 months it almost hit my DNF shelf? Personally, I find it difficult to read books that so poorly mishandled serious situations, especially when the book is aimed at younger readers. Secondly, a girl who is about to graduate law school is for suuure acting like she's on high school, maladaptive and toxic (honestly both the mmc and fmc). Maybe this opinion is rooted in my own experience about to graduate from higher education with a doctorate, but I've come to find that attitude in grad school is humbled and tamed very quickly. The book overall, good, had decent storyline, had good potential for plot, I like a well written smut scene. Berk - a little annoying beating the same horse about being insecure. Brent - annoying when he was pouty. Understood the point for both people being like that. Easy read, easy to follow along and understand what's going on. Interesting enough once I picked it up I finished it while i was on vacation.

Here's the thing, I tried but just an hour into this audiobook and FMC hets drugged at a bar. The MMC and his friends "saved" her. Like they saw the man putting something in the drinks only thought about doing something AFTERWARDS... I don't know. That just made me uncomfortable.
He also kind of stalks her and without ever meeting her in persons wants to throw her a surprise party. I don't know that is weird, especially when they tell him beforehand that she doesn't like surprise parties. These are the kind of men you need to steer away from, like they told you she doesn't like surprise parties but you do it anyway because you think you know better than her??????????????
Boy bye.

I enjoyed For the Boys, I think it has a great cast of characters and a wonderful setting, and I loved the dynamic between the two main characters, Berkley and Brent.
There were a lot of sweet moments in here and a good amount of spice, and I loved how career driven both characters were when it came to Berkley obtaining her law degree and Brent continuing to play hockey and launch his clothing line.
My issues with this book came mainly with the communication between Berkley and Brent. Both kept sexual assault from each other and were overall bad at communicating; that was the big issue that broke them up towards the middle of the book (wow didn't see that coming). This book would've been at least 25% shorter had the main characters discussed their problems.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a hockey romance and what is sure to be an interesting series.
TW: Sexual assault, cheating, concussion,

Characters are in their mid/late 20s but seemed very juvenile. The FMC narrator made her and her friends seem like stereotypical "dumb blondes" and the MMC just seemed creepy. It's one thing to admire someone from afar but searching, following, and messaging someone when they don't know you personally is just weird and I really don't know how a 24 year old law school student didn't come to the same conclusion, whether she liked his hockey team/career or not.
Graphic: Drug abuse, Rape, Sexual assault, and Vomit

The miscommunication trope was really annoying. The two main characters did not talk about anything of substance but yet “loved” each other. I knew where the plot was heading and was not happy about it.

APPALLING. massive trigger warning for sexual assault as there are FOUR! different instances of it occurring/being attempted. the mmc is an absolute fuckwit who refuses to listen to the fmc and the fmc is a dumbass who should have ran away from him kicking and screaming.
side note that i listened to the audiobook and it had the weirdest enunciation i have ever heard from the female narrator? i had to listen at 2.9x speed just to try to get through it. awful time.
