I really wish goodreads would allow you to give half stars. I was extremely excited when I received this ARC because I LOVED the first three books in this series SO much! This one fell just a tad short for me since I had such huge expectations, hence the 4.5 rating I'd give it.
I didn't enjoy Easton in this book as much. I guess because we are seeing his full personality instead of him being more of a comedic relief in the other books. I felt like he kept making the same mistakes and never really learned. I understand he has an addiction issue but I would have liked to see more growth. I'm assuming since there will be a second book that is when he'll finally learn. I really like Hartley, she seems like a great fit for Easton but she was so closed off for most of the book. I didn't really get to the point of wanting them together, not sure how Easton will be able to make up for what he has done either. Great cliffhanger at the end though! The authors really know how to combine great drama, serious situations and a little comedy to make it so much more than a romance story!

Thank you Jen Frederick and Elle Kennedy for this ARC!

this was hands down the least impressive book of the series. easton, somehow, was my favorite character my first go-around reading these in 2017. but jesus, he's got issues.

in other news, the sky is blue.

easton just was so - annoying. this entire book. i guess two-years-older-since-my-first-read me has no room for boys who just dont listen when a girl says No. moreso than that, even, i just found ella and reed more tolerable than easton and hartley and i kinda didn't like that the last two books barely talk about either of the original pair.

I always say this when I read series but I need to wait until they are all out and binge read. I feel like some of the story gets lost when you have to wait so long for a follow up or to continue the story. I really enjoyed the first three books. The fourth book the first 60 percent or so just seemed to drag. I at first felt Easton was being portrayed as weak. I know he has a lot of baggage. I guess we were able to learn more about him and what makes him Easton. I hurt for him. The last 30 percent of the book was very good. Talk about an ending. I’ll have to start book 5 right away.

Hmmm, it’s a “this is my least favourite in the series” for me. 3/5 stars.

I adore Easton and I like the way the author is portraying mental health - but so much unnecessary teenager high school drama in this book, that it is too much for me personally.

Um... this book was really freaking messed up. And also really addictive? And I still need to know what happens after this?

But for the most part: it's angsty. People are literally crazy. The "romance" is a straight-up hate-mance. And loveable Easton is... gone. He's been replaced by old-d-bag-Easton, and he never digs himself out of the hole. Why do you have to do us like that?!

The revelations/confrontations at the end though... phew. They were honestly something else altogether.

Ook door dit deel sjeesde ik heen en was leuk, maar miste de spanning die veel minder van de blz afsloeg dan met reed en ella. Wellicht komt dat in deel 5 nog! Wel weer een ontzettende cliffhanger.

Meh. I liked Easton better when I didn't know his internal dialogue.

Ok... So: this book was not as good as the other 3, but I have to say the cliffhanger is still here! This means I can't wait to read the next book to find out what happened to Sebastian.
Hartley inspired me pity all the time. And Easton should quit drinking. It becomes a cliche. An ugly one.
Let's see what the next book brings next year.
Quotes I liked:
“I’m not short.”
“Really?” I arch a brow and peer down at her.
“Really,” she insists. “I’m just vertically challenged.”
“Thankfully no one is around, so I don’t have to answer any stupid questions. Mostly because I don’t have good answers.”
“I think I’m more of a loner.”
“Great. We’ll be alone together.”
“Funny how the quiet can be deafening. What’d she say before? In the quiet, you can hear the heart beat? You can also hear it break.”
