I have a soft spot for Nicolas Sparks. It's all very very bad. Like so bad. But I like to hate-read it and I'll never stop.

(THE NOTEBOOK AND A WALK TO REMEMBER ARE OBVI NOT INCLUDED)

Nicholas Sparks really doesn't like women. If you're coming to his books with the hope of finding strong women you're not going to find them here. He loves his heroines but only if they fit a certain standard. They're not allowed to be flighty or too overtly female (NO PINK ALLOWED). Also- no salads (that's sissy food) and no women's empowerment talk (there's an actual convo in this book about how feminists hate all men).

But yet- I've read this book like 4x

Eventually, all Nicholas Sparks books start to seem the same. I think this book was the point that I'd had enough.

This was the first Nicholas Sparks book I've read. I enjoyed it. It was a page turner and gave you hope as you routed for the couple that were meant to be.

This novel is indeed one of the most interesting novels of Nicholas Sparks. It contains of course, a story of romance which is beautifully written and plus this time it has a mixture of suspense-thriller that makes the reader find the answers themselves and journeyed with the characters as the story unfolds.

The passages like what I already said was beautifully written and compose of new elements that the fans will surely be proud of. This is a story of loss, new love, small town life and friendship, this will opens a lot of reality to those who will read it and probably, this is a handy tool to help people sort out some of their problems that needed a simple solution.

Another tearjerker of romance novels and a master piece of literature.

What a solid book - Mr. Sparks you've done it again! This one was a solid 4.5-stars but I can't bring myself to upgrade it to a 5 because the first part of the book took me a bit to get into.

I love that this novel was more of a thriller than his typical romances, loved it! I did find that Mike, despite the fact that he's supposed to be the leading love interest and definitely not the creepy guy, he was still pretty creepy until they got together, and even then I wasn't into it. I'm glad this story didn't hinge on him so much as a person but her and Julie as a package.

Also, dogs. I will always cry for dogs.

I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone out there who needs something a little different in their life this summer.

I should start off by saying that I am not a fan of romance novels. With that said, you might be asking yourself why I would read Nicolas Sparks. The Nicolas Sparks hype, that is why. I had to see for myself what all of the hype was about. The Guardian is my first Sparks novel and I won't rush out for another. Predictable, predictable, predictable. Everything that happened was too contrived and the story had too many saccharine moments for my taste.

Not to mention, I'm angry about the ending.
