i loved this second in the wayfarer series by Chambers - light and funny and absolutely adorable characters that you cannot help but fall in love with. i much enjoyed the back story of pepper (jane) and her character development, intermixed with sidra, an AI who has positioned herself in a new body. perhaps my favorite part of this read was that i found my mind bending and reforming my own opinions on the definition of what it means to be "alive" - something that Chambers does an amazing job with, just posing the deeper questions in a creative, thoughtful way that you cannot help but linger on. in the words of young jane... it was real, real good.

I don't even know where to start. This book snuggled into the most sensitive part of my emotions and stayed there, poking me every three for four pages and bringing on the tears. It was so wonderful and lovely and happy. I can't believe that I liked this one so much more than Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet because I loved it so much, too. I want to read everything Becky Chambers has ever written now bye

The Wayfarers books are all so sweet&warm and great palate cleansers between huge fantasy tomes.

However, I preferred the first book in the series a bit more because it focused on a multi-species ADULT crew and in A Closed and Common Orbit, almost half of it the book follows Pepper growing up and especially the scenes where she was 10-15 years old and learning new things about the world felt drawn out a little...

Nonetheless - incredibly great books with great concepts!
I will definitely read every other installment in the near future.

I LOVE BECKY CHAMBERS. Need I say more? Hopepunk is a genre the warms the heart without pulling back from the harsh realities of the world. It's taking a hopeful and optimistic stance in the face of everything, not in the absence of it.

I love the inclusion, I love how friendly all the characters are and I just want to live forever in these little found families. So good. I need to read more Becky Chamrbers

I wasn’t expecting this to not follow the OG set of characters, but these storylines were still connected and incredibly interesting. It didn’t have the “one chapter adventure” format that appealed to me with the first book, but I didn’t need that. Thoughtful, endearing characters.

Not a big science fiction reader but I’m happy to have found this series. It has humor, compassion, anxiousness, an existential crisis, culture clashes, and unconventional relationships. The characters are more than interesting and the story telling is just right. I hope the rest of the series continues that way.
