A really interesting plotline, and I loved where it was all based.

I loved the idea of the flu and how everything is quarantined, especially after experiencing something similar, and seeing how this was written beforehand makes it all come to life a bit more.

I loved Callie's character and really sympathised with her. Kai and Shay were a little annoying, though, and their romance seemed really pushed and quick.

Otherwise, a quick enjoyable read.

Teri Terry's Contagion has been on my TBR list for awhile. Dystopian Fiction is one of my favorite genres, and with current world events, i.e. coronavirus, now seemed the perfect time to dive into this apocalyptic tale about the United Kingdom dealing with a similar outbreak. Unfortunately, I could tell from the very first chapter that this YA novel was not for me. With extremely short chapters alternating between the book's two female characters, I found this novel very difficult to follow or get into. I felt lost right from the beginning, which is not a good way to begin a novel that deals with concepts that were, before our own pandemic, relatively foreign to many of us. The coincidental tie-ins to COVID-19 weren't enough to keep me interested in this novel, which moved at a rapid place without giving me time to absorb concepts or make connections with characters. This novel is action-packed and dialogue-focused, which will appeal to readers who enjoy those characteristics, but as for me, this was just not my book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Charlesbridge Teen for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

This book was really... what's the word? Underwhelming? I don't know maybe I just didn't connect with the characters but I really couldn't care less about the world ending.

I was so excited for this book! I freaking love diseases and epidemics - I'm a nurse! And it's set in Scotland! SCOTLAND! I literally didn't think I could NOT enjoy this book.

Oh how wrong I was.

A disease is wiping out literally everyone in the UK. If you get sick you die within 24 hours and there's no cure whatsoever!

So why was this book so boring?!

I think it was the characters tbh. They seemed so plastic and rigid who had no emotions besides instalove and RAGE! So much rage for no reason. This person hurt the girl I like - I'm gonna kill him! People don't do that and it's certainly not attractive if they do.

Ugh.

I'm so sad this book sucked.

Let me know when there's a good story about a killer disease.

4.25* Contagion is a fast paced, unpredictable and gripping read. It's unlike anything I've read in a while and totally unexpected and surprising in the best way. I couldn't put it down. I loved the structure of the super short chapters and the way the dual perspectives flowed from one to the other. I found myself warming to the characters and loved the different and intriguing sides to each of them. The only thing I didn't enjoy it the fact that I will now have a long wait for the next book, I need to know what happens next!

This book starts off with a girl who went missing and she clambers into the car with a stranger who seemed to be looking for her.
Her death was upsetting and I felt bad for her family.
She looked after her brother's friend.
