This book was a super fast read- I practically read it in one night. I enjoyed the book overall. It wasn't earth shattering everybody must read this, but it was interesting enough to hold my attention most of the time. Some chapters I thought were just weird and unnecessary or unhelpful to most people, lots of it can't be helped for most people either (it's not like I can change the name of my street nor will I let a street name influence my buying- if I like it I like it regardless), but the book did have some fun and interesting parts. And like I said, it was a fast read which is perfect for the general public who is just scratch-the-surface curious. I can't say this book would have helped me buy or sell at all ever, but I'd say read it if you are curious.

Exactly the type of non-fiction I love to read. Lots of interesting facts and statistics, debunking myths and giving background data to support it, with a very readable tone. Not too long, and the chapters are succinct and to the point.

I had high hopes based on the premise of the book but I feel it failed to deliver on all fronts.

The writing just isn't that good and unfortunately neither is the analysis.

This quote from the last chapter pretty well represents this entire book:

"By February 2007, the average housing price declined to $197,000 from the pre-Katrina median of $203,000."

Very data heavy but put into useable context most of the time which I really enjoyed. Very solid book.
