Really solid romance novel, cute banter. Very serious anxiety disorder. Mild- medium spicy, enjoyable read. Liked all the awareness and the unique themes with the dreams.
Graphic: Panic attacks/disorders
Moderate: Sexual content
Minor: Abandonment

Delightful little romance and a quick engaging read. The one magic aspect was simple and understated enough to not be too distracting for me. (I don't typically read romance blended with supernatural aspects.) I was invested in the characters and read this quickly, frequently ignoring other books I'm working on because I just wanted to keep going with this story. A satisfactory conclusion, though I'm not sure I'm going to immediately jump at reading the next in the series.

I wanted to love this more. It started out really strong - good writing, interesting premise, diverse characters. For me, it fell down in the second half. It becomes two inward focused on the characters mental health issues and the romance and spice all but fizzled (seriously, a 0.5 on the spice rating, very frustrating).

It’s a wonder I decided to finish this one because it was not good. I agree with other reviews that the dialogue was terrible at times. Also the dreams were weird. And Gaia being in denial about her anxiety was annoying too. The subplot with Gemma was unnecessary, I think it was only added to set up for Beharrie’s next book

Such a great premise between the magic writing dreams and Gaia's family history... but a huge let down. I was bored throughout the entire book.
Jacob was so bland as a character and the story trudged on with random and slow plot lines. I had hoped it would pick up and bring some things back around to make sense, but didn't happen.
The romance also felt forced. I actually don't understand why Gaia and Jacob liked each other past him being attracted to her, or why they even had their first kiss since she was so weird about him being a "child" (two year age gap though?) moments before and even the dad is like "you're dating an older woman". huh??
Planned to read A Ghost in Shining Armor, the next book about Gemma but I had ZERO interest in continuing the story after I finally finished this book.

No real spice! What a tease.
Found the writing style so tedious at times - felt like it took forever to make a point. Gaia I found honestly a bit insufferable, and I thought Seth was generally a useless character, she didn't even give him a personality really. Did think the magic idea - while utterly ridiculous - was interesting, but again badly written. Could hardly ever tell who’s POV we were in, and and times who was thinking what got so confusing. Thought the sister plot was under used, and could’ve actually given the story some depth rather than just 2 people that clearly need therapy falling in “love”.

This was really cute. I liked how they each had vulnerabilities to work through. The third act breakup was cliche but got resolved timely if lamely.
