Such a super fun read. Having been a fan of Sara's this book like all the others before it was a pure delight to read. The humor, the one liners, the attitudes, you can see Sara ALL over these characters. What's more, they are real. There is such a raw realness to them, and it really makes this book amazing.
I didn't want to finish this book, I didn't want to say goodbye. I sat and read this book in one sitting, and I haven't been able to do that in months. When I was looking for an escape in a book, this book delivered. The world that is built in this book, makes you take notice, and makes you feel like you are park of the book. This story is told in dual pov.

I think we all have our weird book preferences and I must confess, mine is virgin guys. And guess what, Jackson is A VIRGIN! Jock Road is the latest sports romance by Sara Ney, THE Queen of sports romance, and it follows Triple J whose life is centred around football. Guys, if you like the virgin guy trope, this book is for you. I absolutely adore when the guy is not that experimented, it is so different from what we can usually read.

What makes this book that good is that the characters' personalities are so different from what we usually get to see from sports romance novels. Jackson is very introvert, he only thinks football and doesn't really have a life besides that. He has no idea how to act around a girl and doesn't even know if he can have a girlfriend and still achieve his goals. Charlie is just like the little girls who get super mad but it just make them cuter! She is not the typical jock chaser and that's maybe why Jackson will like her enough to forget about football for a second.

Their love story is very smooth, I love how ignorant Jackson is about love and sex. It doesn't make him any less hot and absolute book boyfriend material! He actually has feelings and show them. He does cute things without even knowing it and he is just the absolute best. Charlie is not a sex goddess, but she is absolutely the most experienced one. She is just so understanding with Jackson, never making fun of him and encouraging him to start living a little. All of Jackson's roommates are hilarious and make Jackson look even more like a little unique and precious thing (but with very very big muscles). The setting of the book is super cute as it is set in autumn and you get all the cozy feels.

So if you are sick of all the female protagonists in romance being innocent virgins, read this book because the reversal of the situation is just so entertaining and Jackson might be one of the best Sara Ney character!

This book started out slow for me, but once I got into it, it was well worth the read. Charlie and Jackson were so cute together. I kind of wish there was more closure with his dad, but I am okay with where she left of with the MCs.

So I really liked Jock Row and was excited to have a series to go through (even one I knew was gonna be pretty cheesy). I usually don’t have an issue with sports romance series having the same exact plot arc and pace in every book, if it’s not broke don’t fix it, but I think in this series it’s broken and needs to be fixed.

For all the slow burn in every one of these books the romance is very insta love. Sometimes that gets on my nerves but typically authors will throw in some major drama right around 75% when the couple thinks everything’s going smoothly and then Im in it to figure out how they get back together.

Not the case here. Jackson and Charlotte meet, flirt, start dating, have sex, and live happily ever after. In any normal sports romance this wouldn’t be a spoiler because typically there really IS more to it than that, or at least more embellishment. I didn’t feel that here. Actions speak louder than words, even in books. No matter how much Jackson said he only had time for football he never once made a choice that prioritized his sport over time with Charlotte, so that tension didn’t ring true to me. And Charlotte had no obstacle to being in a relationship to begin with so definitely no tension there. Couple that with kinda lackluster banter centering mainly on Jackson’s accent and steamy scenes that weren’t all that steamy and you get an easy but boring read.

OMG! This book is super cute. I am not really a big fan of NA romance book. But this book is super cute. I love love Jackson. He is such an adorable hero.

A bit of alpha but sweet cuddle bear inside. So cute. I die of over cuteness of him. There is that meet cute on the beginning of the book. Super cute. Charlotte is likeable heroine with motherly side. She acts so symphatic around Jackson and makes him comfortable.

I can not stress more how super cute this 2 are. So cute. Adorable.

Really liked the banter. Some great new sayings to throw about.
It did end kind of abruptly but it’s fine.

Wow! Let me tell you about the smile I had on my face the entire time I read this book! I'll tell you why: Jock Road reminded me so much of my courtship with my college football player husband (who was also a receiver like Triple J)! Memories.... At any rate, I pink puffy heart Jackson and Charlie so much. Their banter was so hilarious and their awkwardness was so adorable.

"You look..." Nice. Gorgeous. Great. Fantastic. Breathtaking. "Fine."
A low laugh escapes her lips, as if she's taking pity on how pathetic I am.
"Thanks. You also look.... fine."

So cute. And so real. Ney knows how to write the spark and the wit. Such a fun meet-cute. As an Okie I can say that she nailed Jackson's southern accent.

I loved when they (separately) started to realize how much they liked each other.

Not to mention, when he leaned in close and got up in there... he smelled fantastic. Like cologne and shampoo and a bit dirty, like he'd showered but not that well? As if he'd rushed through it, had been so sweaty from working out he couldn't be bothered to wash it all down the drain.
Like man. A hard-working man who cares more about getting shit done than smelling good doing it.

The whole Jock Hard series is fantastic really- all books can be read as complete standalones. Jock Road absolutely scored for me- I loved it!

I wanted to like this book, I really did. But I had a hard time getting through it. It doesn't help that I have unanswered questions and feel like nothing was really resolved. Jackson and Charlie meet, fall in love, etc. Great. But what about Jackson's dad. There was no outcome. It just all fell flat.
