This is a book where I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I had read the first book, Maelyn, and I thought it was alright. This book, however, is one of my favorites of 2013!

Coco is a character who I know I shouldn't like, but I did anyway. She is spoiled, a flirt, and she takes pleasure in breaking men's hearts. But you know what? I didn't care. Under all that, you could see through how she interacted with Pipsy that she was actually a decent human being. I identify more with Maelyn, but I enjoyed reading about Coralina more.

Gord....hmmm. I had mixed feelings about him. He was another interesting character, but I don't think I exactly liked him as much as I should have. The ending was definitely not a cliche romance ending, which may be the reason for my unfair feelings toward him. I liked his daughter, Pipsy, more than him.

At first, I thought the bandits would be sort of babyish. I mean, they were stealing hair! But, considering that, I thought that they were actually written pretty well. When I found out who the bandits were, it made even more sense and really added to the story.

The story kind of had an ending, it kind of didn't. A few things were resolved, and others seemed to be leading up to the next book, Heidel. And now that I've read Coralina, I am definitely reading Heidel!

I would definitely recommend you read this story. I don't think you need to read Maelyn to read this book, but I have a feeling Maelyn will be important later on in the series, so perhaps you should. It is a short, fun, read that is unexpectedly great!

I am loving this series! Valle's writing is beautiful, her characters are so real, and the stories are original. I can't wait to continue reading!

I really love Valle's writting style. Even though Coralina was a very selfish and self centered character you still felt bad for her in the end. This was also a fast read in the series, and i felt that this one should have been longer than the first, because i have yet to be satisfied with Maelyns relationship with Willow, and felt the same with Coralina's story, but I have faith that later in the series that void of the stories not ending in "happily ever after" for the princesses and their love interest will be fulfilled. Now I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment, in hopes that Valle can write as fast as her demanding readers.

I'm a little ashamed to admit, but I read Valle's first book in the series, "Maelyn," and stayed up too late reading it; so I cancelled all my plans for the next day so I could sleep in and read her second book, "Coralina." I was not disappointed. Coralina (or Coco as her sister call her) is the complete opposite of her hardworking and stalwart sister Maelyn. Though Coco is vain and self-centered, Antia Valle somehow still manages to write a character that you want to keep reading about which is difficult. I feel that all the teen Monster High/Ever After High authors could take a cue from this book on how to write a materialistic, ditsy character well so the readers will care about her. Another thing I really liked was that the book built on events and hints from the first book and crafted the into Coralina's story while introducing the other nine sisters and side characters well. She weaves in Maelyn or Willow's story and I really enjoyed where their story is going. My only complaint for Anita Valle is that she needs to write faster! I'm dying to find out more about Jaydis and see what the ultimate fate of Coralina will be.

This book is really geared towards a younger audience than myself. I liked the book but it was a very easy and predictable read. The ending caught be slightly by surprise however. It wasn't a bad book or anything, it just wasn't for me.
