Complete reader's debate with this book--- I enjoy Moyes' light reads...but there was controversy with this book and I have a friend who was writing a book about this topic... anyway, with my pile of books in my bedroom, I put it off, until the actual book appeared in my mailbox...and it fit a reading challenge category.
I love the Appalachia region--- I grew up in the Virginia Appalachian mountains, spending my summers with my aunt and grandparents. It is a beautiful, but extremely poor, part of the country that I am proud to be able to call home--- or at least my summer home. So, this book--- is my roots and I was excited about the topic--- women librarians in Kentucky Appalachian region.... the characters are great, the story is a page turner...and the writing is easy to just dive into. I really loved the characters and how they each found their niche and a sisterhood. I wish the author had spent more time with the families in the mountains and the librarians and not gotten Margery involved in a court case....because it was obvious what would happen. I wanted more angry Alice--- and more light shone on Bennett (I actually thought he was gay, which would have been an interesting turn.) It was a good easy read for a week of moving and packing. I will have to read the other book that people say she plagiarized to see how matched they are--- but also to see how her story turns out.
Read if you enjoy librarians and historical chick lit. Or just Appalachia calls your name.

The thing that stands out to me the most is how easy and quickly you fall in love with all of the characters. I usually struggle in the beginning to put the investment into reading the book long enough until I like the characters and the setting, but man, Moyes write this setting and the characters so well that you instantly like it. I loved the book even when nothing had really happened yet. I love the characters so much that when I was worried about their fates, I could not stop myself from skimming the end to make sure my heart would not be broken.

This book definitely keeps you reading. I love the drama of it. I also love the themes of friendship and sisterhood. This book reminds me what really matters in life, which is your relationships. You don't have to be anything to everyone, but being everything to someone is all that matters.

Boring. Women on horses delivering books in Kentucky. I'm 25% of the way through the book and nothing has happened yet. Had to stop reading.

Lovely book set in eastern Kentucky. I love the idea of independent women delivering books on horseback in the mountains. A fun read for sure!

Great book wrapped up so nicely at the end. Would’ve rated it higher but it took too long to get into
