Working my way through this Love Belvin chokehold. Lol. I started reading in the wrong order. I started with Muted Hopelessness series. After that I found out the order and started from the beginning of her books. I can’t wait to get back to MH series to listen to book 3 again.

For this book, this was the second story of Trenton and Jade. I enjoyed their story. I like how their faith was a major part of their growth. Those are two people that really needed each other. Neither of them played about the other. Especially Jade

The continuation of Trent & Jade’s story. Their relationship is rife with conflict, insecurities, and missteps. I loved the inclusion of couples therapy, still stigmatized within the African- American community. Solid character development and a writing style that leaves me satisfied.

SN: I loved that Belize was featured as a vacation spot

A solid 4.5 stars. I am so conflicted with Love Belvin's stories. She writes well and the stories are ones I can't DNF, but at least one main character (if not both) in every book of hers I've read truly frustrates my spirit. I understand that she writes romance involving complicated/flawed people. I can get behind that.

What I don't understand is why most of her stories involve people who truly need therapy, but don't get it. I understand the stigma of mental illness/therapy in the black community, but I don't see a professional league with a player fresh out of doing several years in prison not insisting that the man gets therapy.

Better yet, Jade has a friend/co-worker who is openly going to therapy and expresses how it's helped her and she doesn't feel the need to see someone? Also, the non communication is a problem. It's all well and good to be there for your spouse, but the fact that she bottles shit up and when she gets jealous automatically goes into fight or flight (with her CHILD) instead of being an adult and TALKING to the man.

Knowing Ezra, both of the these people had to take premarital classes (I don't know many churches who don't require that prior to member marrying in the church) and yet they fail the most fundamental rule of communication. Trent isn't as bad, but Jade's mom really fucked her up.

1.5 “Not for me” Stars!

I approached this book with great trepidation because I wasn’t a huge fan of Book 1 of this series by the same author because I didn’t like the main characters at all. That said, I was a massive fan of Books 2 and 3 and was excited for the next installment in the series till I saw it was once again super annoying Jade and massively clueless Trent.

I counted it a relief when Book 1 ended and was thrilled that potentially I wouldn’t have to deal with the main couple extensively again. Having read another 400+ pages of Jade and Trent, I’m still uncertain as to the purpose of this book. I don’t see that it adds anything to their story. They still have the same immature conflicts, there’s little to no progress in their relationship, there’s no new or interesting ground covered here that wasn’t covered in the first book in this series which was also unnecessarily long. I just don’t quite understand what the purpose of this book was.

The premise here is that Jade and Trent are now married but they both still have mummy issues, trust issues, lack of communication issues, solving issues with sex issues, Jade jumping to conclusion issues, poor reasoning and judgment issues- the full gamut of things you are probably already familiar with from Book 1. This book is once again their endless back and forth of misunderstandings and self-generated drama.

I really didn’t enjoy this book like I did the previous two in the series but just because it’s not for me doesn’t mean it won’t be for you. If you like contrived somewhat immature romantic drama of the self-generated sort you would find in a reality show, you might not be as irritated with this as I was. Also, the great thing about this series is that the books more or less standalone. If you enjoyed the first book, you’ll definitely want to check this out for more Jade and Trent. If the first CK book wasn’t for you, this is DEFINITELY one to skip.

Love everything about Trent and Jade!

I don’t know how I’ve read this series, particularly the books about Trent and Jade, as many times as I have and there be no review. Well let me rectify that! I fell in love with Trent’s story in the Ezra series and was so happy when he got to tell his story completely. He is such a giving heart and he was created for nothing less than a heart as big as his. Jade was made for him! They healed so many things in each other. They are still my favorite LB couple, with Ezra and Lex running a close second.
